Default Cruise control module rebuild

Has anyone sent their cc brain in for testing/RR? Any recommendations on who to use?

My cc is working, but it goes into a 3 second on/off cycle. It takes control of the throttle, and maintains speed, but you can feel the controller get on the gas for 3 seconds, and then coast for 3 seconds again and again.

It just started doing this. I can't find any vac leaks, and I took the vacuum servo unit out. When you push the plunger in, and hold your thumb over the large vacuum port, it holds air. So I think the servo is good. I replaced the vacuum hoses and they seem tight. Checked with mapp gass, and can't find any vacuum leaks.

So, I think it's the module. I might buy a used one on evilBay, dunno yet...

Please do your research on Lorenfb with threads such as this:
https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...hlight=Lorenfb

https://rennlist.com/forums/911-foru...hlight=Lorenfb

and by all means ask Ed Hughes what he thinks. Please, as your friend.

There's no doubt that Loren can be acerbic and difficult on this BBS and Pelican. OTOH, he does seem to really know his stuff, and I've never heard anyone complain about his skill or workmanship (just his personality). I've traded barbs with him in the past but if I ever needed electronics work, I'd rather have someone skillful and knowledgeable than someone who's just a nice guy.

My $.02.

Just getting caught up on my online stuff, with that intro-read below.

I will park my car on a busy street and even give the new owner $500 cash for gasoline as I give my car away to them before I'd ever send a dime of my money to that ***. This is where his assinine comments and attitude come back to haunt him. I don't care who he is, or what he knows. When you abuse potential customers online like he does.....you don't deserve to earn any money from them. I get the chance to vote for who I like or respect with my dollars.

If I do business with someone, it is because I want to, not because I have to. I don't want to have anything to do with this rotten human(?) being.

I'd recommend doing a search in the publications or online. There are others out there.

I simply did a search and posted the top 2 threads that came up on and that were relavent to Loren's knowledge of the module in question. The result list is very long and he works on lots of stuff so I was trying to narrow the search.

I know I've seen an ad in Panorama or something recently, I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Here's a company in the Netherlands that I've heard good stuff on in the 928 world. They do 911's too. Shipping to the Netherlands isn't that expensive and well worth it not to have to deal with Satan's unwanted son.

watching "24" right now...love that show.

I've not had a good experience with Loren. I don't want to spread bad things around, so I won't. All I'll say is that I have a pretty high standard on who I associate with and do business with. High in terms of character. Even more importantly, I stay away from people who are negative because it poisons your life.

Anywhoo, I have what I think is a bum CC module. I made an offer to some guy on evilBay, and he took it!!! I thought it might be lowball, but it'll be here in a few days. Meanwhile, I'd still like to get my old one rebuilt.

Default My CC brain repair shop.

I used Beckmann Technologies, Inc. They are located in Durham, NC. They were a top notch 10/10 company to work with! The person I worked with was Andrew Scott. There phone number is 919-381-2700. I received my rebuilt unit in the mail in 7 days.

Good Luck, Mark

Now we all walk away friends and pat ourselves on the back for keeping the conversation civil.

I recall a client installed an aftermarket cruise control unit in his Carrera. I've considered doing the same in my Cab to gain a little more room.

Hmm, this thread is still suspiciously devoid of toxins.
