IIRC, I punched the roll pin out far enough to let the fork fall off, but not all the way out, then reassembled. I would certainly replace it though if I had a new one.

Thanks for the tip, Ed. I was just about to launch a search.

Very true... My clutch failed in July and the car was just put on stands last week.

Yummmmm Stella..... Does the beer intake have anything to do with the forgotten ring gear?

I dropped the engine after work today. Had one "duh" moment. Forgot to feed the dme input wires for the afm and icv through the intake before the drop. Hope the engine runs when I put it back in.

Trans goes to machine shop, fuel lines go to Zims Autotek in Tejas for rubber replacement. God, I hate CV joints! I'll probably do a bunch of other stuff while it's out, and re-install next week w a brand new clutch, etc.

For the fuel line, are you referring to the line mounted to the engine that looks like some sort of tree branch?

If so, what is the rebuild cost?

Zims is 30 mins from my house so this would be very convenient.

I hang a checklist on the wall. It's easy to get over-anxious.

Scott-I got mine from Kirk, they usually have exchange units in stock. IIRC, about $150 for the big one, and 75 for the other? Whatever the cost-1/2 of new.

They want me to send in my old ones, which they will use to clock the fittings together onto the fuel lines (on top of the motor). I like the fact that they are using rubber. The estimate was around 350-400. Not sure because he said "parts cost" as if maybe labor might add more. In any case, it's way cheaper than the factory lines, and you are getting the next best thing to the original lines.

Forgive my ignorance. I just don't remember the details of the end fittings, but; Could one fabricate their own out of .AN fittings and some aeroquip fuel line???

Absolutely! I would not trust myself to do this of course, so it's down to rubber or ss. I think the price is good for original fuel line. I also like the fact that the assembly is from an established, known Porsche vendor. They gotta make a profit for themselves, and I am a-ok with that.

Many have done the -AN route with braided hose, but I think it looks a little out of place on our motors.

I think there has been a little debate over the schaffing of the SS lines too.
Rus, I would agree with you as well - good fuel lines from a good vendor is a no-brainer.
I just asked cuz I like making stuff.

I also like the guys at Zims. They are good people. They don't know, but I've bought stuff from them since the 80s. I like making stuff, but honestly I get lazy, lol.
