Also very worthy stop for the showroom, the museum, and the catwalk over the shop.

If you can't go in person at least check out the weekly shop walk videos:

If I can just add from my own personal experience from March of this year..... The bridge to Big Sur was still out and we didn't know it. We got to Carmel Valley and Hwy 1 and were turned back. We went to Carmel Valley Road and headed west. The G16 must be the best 3rd gear road I've ever driven. It was pure heaven. Up, down, blind turns, off camber, oak trees, pastures, bridges, lined with ranches and totally deserted. We were alone all the way back to Hwy 101. Heaven...

Default Many years back, I attended a drive & wine tour organized by Pelican...

We stopped for lunch, photos and wine tasting at Hahn Estates in Soledad. We drove G16 for most of the tour. A lot of fun.

I may try G16 from 101 into Carmel, since Highway 1 is closed in a few places from Cambria area north. Hard to beat Highway 1 for the vistas, but the driver road may be a good substitute.

I don't remember if there are services on G16, in case of emergency. Do you know?

Likely not even cell service. We saw cows, that's it. As we approached the 101 we missed a turn and ended up parallel to the highway going north. I finally stopped and turned around and looked for a turn. Found a bridge over a deep canyon that took us to the Greenfield were we found full services and headed south on the 101. We cut back to the coast and had dinner at The Sea Chest in Moonstone Beach.
