What is the current value for a VERY well sorted SC Coupe?
I'm talking bare metal repaint, new interior, full engine out rebuild, new trans... all reputable, matching numbers.
Essentially a new car, but not the original paint or leather (of course).

That's s tough one as I'm sure not many have done that to an sc. historically the value has not been there to warrant this type of expenditure. .
But another decade or two and you might see it follow the long-hoods.

Owners of 3,0 cars do love their 3,0 cars and you can't discount the connection people have with the cars of their time. To me, my memory goes back to the G50 cars when I was in high school....I'm now 50. When I set out to buy I only wanted an '88. I can see older guys paying a premium for the SC as it was THE CAR when they were young. I don't know if that makes sense.

That one is ridiculously overpriced and very high mileage. Was thinking of this one:

(thankfully, these many years later, I can enjoy the insanity ).
The monetary value of $70K (if in fact that guy would have actually produced it at game time), really is of questionable "value" when weighed against what life and experiences are to be exchanged in the transaction. Truly, one can always get more money; figure it out, the money is there to be earned. But one can't always get the car that makes one really good!

This makes plenty of sense, and also resonates with me. When a good friend bought his 78SC decades ago, I was floored! And every now and then when we had headed out as buds, he'd just throw me the keys. That car ruined me forever!

Back to the OP's original post: A verbal offer means absolutely nothing. Jack ****. Until the $$$ is in the bank. Especially with used/classic cars.
I'll offer to buy it for $100,000!
Not trying to be overly blunt. It just means nothing.
As a buyer, it's annoying to see inflated prices and dealers who don't really have any interest in selling. Sorry, but even a well-sorted SC has no business selling for $70k in today's market.
