I'll offer to buy it for $100,000!

Not trying to be overly blunt. It just means nothing.

As a buyer, it's annoying to see inflated prices and dealers who don't really have any interest in selling. Sorry, but even a well-sorted SC has no business selling for $70k in today's market.
You must be new. Dealers overprice cars for a variety of reasons. The occasional rich idiot buyer is only one of them. A nice rediculously overpriced car brings in the masses to look at the rest of the inventory. Buyers see car A is an '88 M491 at $179,999 and car B is a '79 Middie for $49,999 and jump at the Middie. It's a bargain compared to that overpriced fake turbo. It's a mind game. Same car, without the extra crap, right?

Awesome! What a small world. Know of any cars and coffee events for Porsche coming up in the future around here?

Turns out it was the clutch... it was original and the rubber center had broken apart. Got a new spring centered one installed and it shifts so much better. Had a small oil leak before but the mech fixed all of that while doing the clutch.

I was offered 80k on my 86 carrera recently. The car just had the motor, suspension and clutch tranny redone and the paint is 9.8 out of 10. I said no to the offer, I cant replace this car for that amount of money. So I get it, but 70k for an SC? Unless it was perfect I would have taken the offer and moved to a carrera 3.2

I have said it before but I will say it again, 3.2's are great BUT I PREFER the early SC. I also don't like sunroofs at all. My car has low options. No power windows, no AC, and no sunroof. Plus I got really nice velour inserts in the seats. No passenger side mirror.. little things that set it apart. The 3.2's that I drove felt different to me, definitely more modern and heavier. An amazing car but the SC checked off all the boxes of what I was looking for.

Well if you want a 45k mile car with a totally redone drivetrain and nearly perfect paint and every service record from new? I found a few for 60k but then to do everything over, like rebush the suspension and rebuild the engine to better than factory, then no. it would be an even deal. In time these will only go up higher.
