The Spyder RS no doubt, this is a special car to enjoy like this bottle you leave for relax in the right time. Good weather, backroads/canyon driving with no roof and the intoxicating sound. GT4 RS is a great experience car but produced as a track tool, and for track you have a GT3 that technically is superior at a similar price.

More impressions:

- Love shifting that PDK with the gear selector in manual. It bangs gears perfectly!
- In the bumpy fast corners it skips around a bit but the handling is pretty laser and sharp
- It feels like it’s going slow than it is with the top down so far. Hides its speed.
- HVAC comes on automatically every time I jump back in and start it?
- Brakes are new but maybe they need to break in more, but I feel the initial bite is less than my TTS. Feels like the SRS needs more pedal pressure to come really activate the brakes.
- With two people the top is extremely easy and quick to put on (Bimini, not the completely water proof part yet)

That’s all for now

TTS has more brake boost.

No criticism here, because I agree, I'm not willing to throw down 100k for another 1,000 rpm's.
That's how I see it today ... but tomorrow may be different.

First it is not $100k msrp vs msrp, around $60k. Second I would love to agree and say it is only 1k rpm, but this is a different animal, drive one and find your “tomorrow may be different”. Belive me I loved my 718 Spyder but there is no relation in driving experience (power, sound, agility etc, etc)

lithium battery is best bang for buck weight loss for sure for any Porsche.

next best is OAP/headers, emission filter removal.
save weight and gain power.

is there a consensus best header system yet for the 4RS/SRS? Specifically for objectively increased power and reduced weight. (Not sound which is subjective).

For the 991.2 GT cars, the consensus was the Dundon header system for objective weight loss & increased power.

Any consensus yet for the 4RS/SRS?

I have a “stripper” ( non WP - $184k) build that was supposed to start production 2 days ago but it’s not at that status on Porsche app- so yeah about $60-70k difference to spyder.

lightweight wheels reduce unsprung weight, not just weight. I might look into carbon fiber wheels at some point. Also - lightest brake package is stock with surface transforms. Might do that in future as well….let’s see…. in 2026 will have to decide between SRS and my F355 GTS gated which I’ve owned 20 yrs becoming part of my psyche!

be mindful of corner balance as you pursue weight reduction.

yep pretty spot on review. appreciate his perspective of trying to own one vs a lot of technical details.

I do think driving with just the top and not the back piece is the compromise for a daily setup. though I drove it to the mall yesterday and you do worry about people coming around and messing with it and trying to stick their hand in the rear openings..oh well

I agree with your math, the mag wheels save weight, but they are not only very expensive but less forgiving in the real world.

I applaud the idea of getting the car below 3000 lbs. (1361 kg) but it will be tough to do in the PDK equipped SRS, leaving the roof at home won't be enough!

I have my MT 718 Spyder down to about 3051 lbs (1384 kg) when the Apex VS-5RS wheels are installed, an AG battery will get me closer but still not below 3000 lbs.

on the topic of ownership, does anyone miss rear wheel steer though? I've gotten so used to it on the other cars this is my only non-rear wheel steer car now and it really highlights how much it changes the dynamics of the car..

You don’t feel the car rotates beautifully as is?

I never perceived RWS working in my 911s, it's transparent for me. Main difference in feel of 911 vs Cayman/Boxster should be first due to rear- vs mid-engine, and secondarily suspension differences.
