I have mixed feelings about that too, like when the GT3 Touring came out with no wing. I think when the smoke clears this car will be an anomaly which is all the more reason to own one.

Nope, makes it a one-of-one. Historically PAG has used the RS moniker many times, including the 987 Boxster RS60

Anyway, interesting and perhaps valid discussion pre-release on naming convention...but that ship sailed last May.

Or the "Turbo" badge getting plastered on an EV (read: Taycan).

It's surprising, yes, but in a good way IMO. The Carerra GT and 918 Spyder were both "convertibles", and a level beyond "RS".

Some people thinks that sport cars started with roof, maybe the F1 will add one so the can call them F1 RS...... lol

I think the most interesting part about the Spyder RS I've heard in my car enthusiast circles is that 911/GT3/3RS owners want one and are open to it as a 2nd-5th car to pair with their 911. While they have 0 interest in a GT4RS because they already have a manual GT3 or GT3RS so a GT4RS adds nothing to them but for them to have a top down RS experience is something they are interested in.

Nice, I have my Spyder RS that just entered production right now and my GT4RS but I just bought a 2007 GT3 RS Pumpkin I'm importing from Canada so I think I'll sell the 4RS and have the 997.1 RS Pumpkin + SRS for that manual + PDK RS garage.

What sets the SRS apart from a Spyder, other than the soundtrack?

come on man! Look at it… it’s a completely different car so to speak. CF, suspension set up. The roof is lighter, different engine, trans, etc.

the interior is the same and the body.

Not aesthetically - how is the driving experience different?
