I'm trying to get to the bottom of it with my SA and Porsche Canada as well. Initially they chalked it up to the configurator just being copied over from the GT4 RS, but the wording is different and again all official Porsche photos have the A-pillar in race-tex. Will update once I hear more.

which month/day was your car produced? Wondering if everyone who’s seen this anomaly on their cars had similar production dates where race-tex was dropped due to supply shortages?

I did the same! I suspect it was a decision made by Porsche internally or in the factory but then not reflected to customer-facing info. I'm going to push to get it replaced with race-tex if possible.

If it was me, I’d push to have it replaced. Dealers are charging ADM’s, mandating high specs, requiring watches etc but the manufacturer isn’t meeting its basic obligation to build according to advertised standard specs.
How can one party to a contract decide that they’ll change an aspect of the car unilaterally? On the flip side, can the buyer unilaterally decide the car’s worth is diminished and show up with $5k less on delivery day?

A-pillar in Race-Tex is clearly mentioned as standard on the German configurator standard equipment list.
If it wasn't standard in the US surely it would be listed somewhere as and option.
Why would Europe get it standard and the US not at all? Makes no sense. Get it together Porsche.

It’s also listed as standard on the US configurator. Check out the base interior description I screen shot above.

Should not be a big issue for the dealer to rectify

That GTS red makes my guards red cry with envy. Love the yellow accents, as well. Considered them with guards, but chickened out. They work great with the GTS. The color intensity (with the black wheels) reminds me of the visual impact of my python car.

Thanks.

This was the pic that clinched it for me.

My non-WP has race-Tex A pillars. I did get the leather package though, that may be the difference…

I also have Full Leather with the Extended Leather Dash... So that's not it. I also posted a poll on the Global Owners SRS Page and 4 of 5 people so far have stated they have Race Tex for Non-Weissach Package cars. So it's looking like it was a mistake. Curious what PNCA and Porsche AG come back with.

When I put in my first order, my SA suggested race-tex sunvisors so it would match the A pillars.

Perhaps it’s certain cars only manufactured during a date range. Wonder how non WP cars are equipped for those taking delivery now.

Interesting. When was it produced and when did you take delivery?

I'm starting to wonder if I should really part with my flawlessly built in Zuffenhausen regular 718 Spyder.
If my RS doesn't arrive 100% correct they can keep it. Sorry for the rant but at $200K I expect better...
Do you know how easy it is to pop out the A-pillar and pop a different A-pillar back in? I do, and it’s a piece of cake.

Options for you:
1) Find a VIN of ANY 718 convertible with a leather A-pillar or Race-Tex A-pillar and swap (seems you have a VIN from your own car)
2) Call an exotic car wreck business and buy these cheaply from another car, and swap
3) Remove these from your 718 Spyder and trade your 718 Spyder with the A-pillars of the Spyder RS that you’re buying, and equip your traded 718 Spyder with the A-pillars from the Spyder RS
