Ice Grey Metallic was a new Porsche color first introduced with the Taycan in 2021. In 2023 it became available for 718s and 911s. I've seen it on a Taycan and a '23 911 and thought it looked fantastic on both.

I may have found a way to get full data, including all the different options, but I need someone with TYD access for a car that was already delivered to help me (my own Spyder is still v200, so no good). If someone is curious about the data and wants to help - PM me.

I can still see mine if I use the link in the original email. Status shows Arrival at Dealer. I can share if you still need it.

Thanks, guys, minutes after posting that message, someone reached out and helped. Sadly the data using that method appears to be only for cars that had TYD at some point, which is less than 50% of the cars, so not a huge help. I have another direction I am chasing.

Is anyone here with a customer order that never enabled\used TYD? Please share your VIN either here or over PM

I love your graphs. Can you clarify: I understand all years of 718s (20-22). But worldwide or just North America?

On another thread (https://rennlist.com/forums/gt4-spyd...pyder-gt4.html) I found GT4: 764 - 2020 589 - 2021 GT4 1353 -
Spyder: 392 - 2020, 485 - 2021.

If your numbers are just NA, that would suggest over 1300 2022 GT4's; doesn't seem likely given the ship that sank, Ukraine and GT4RS? Same applies to the Spyder numbers.

Thanks very much for doing the hard work on the research!

Valid point.
And it is extremely possible that a big portion of my VINs sits at the bottom of the Atlantic - I am trying to validate that as we speak, but it isn't easy.
I will share more when I have more information.

And yes - all numbers are NA numbers.

So after some additional work, I managed to verify every single VIN in my database; some were removed due to having zero history. Some even had valid build sheets, but with no history what so ever, those were removed too.

love the data!
  • GTS 4.0 not for sale 2020
  • GTS 4.0 still lower production volume than GT4/Spyder in both 2021, 2022

we can only guess about why for the second one…
  • maybe Porsche makes more $$$ on the GT4/Spyder?
  • maybe simply more people want GT4/Spyder over GTS 4.0?

The GTS makes very little sense when there is the GT4, in my opinion. It is the more desirable version, it is as easy to daily (if that's what you want) as the GTS and it will have significantly lower depreciation.
The Boxster and Spyder is a slightly different story because of how annoying the roof in the Spyder is - but on the other hand, it looks so much more exotic than both the GTS and the GT4.

Maybe it's because of living with older convertibles over the years, but I really don't think the Spyder roof is that annoying. It's probably fair to say that you miss out on the really excellent Boxster roof though -- the ability to put the top up and down almost as easy as a window is pretty great, to be sure.

On the flip side of the equation, the GT4 and Cayman GTS have pretty comparable looks, while the Spyder is (to my eye), dramatically more attractive than a Boxster GTS.

If I can't scrounge up one of the last few Spyder allocations, I think a CGTS might actually be my fallback (unless I just go the used route for a Spyder)
