In the UK we get a LOT of showers then 21oc weather. So I never take the roof off my 718 Spyder unless it's 100% not going to rain all day.

The SRS is even a bigger pain. And Yes I owned a 987.2 Spyder for 11 years so know it's a pain and the car did not do many miles.
A big issue in the SRS over the 987 SPyder is the 124mph speed limit, this was not an issue really in a 987, it would be a massive issue in the SRS as 124MPH is no hassle to get too with 500bhp.
For the lack of any real weight saving I would love my 718 Spyder roof to be electric. But at least I can do higher speeds in the 718 Spyder over a SRS Spyder roof up. I would def have a SRS if it had an electric roof, I would not have one how it is now.

I think the SRS will be an amazing car but I think you're spot on with your callouts and limitations that make it a third or fourth car. All the track days I've ever done require soft tops or convertibles to have the top up or installed, so 124mph is a nonstarter. I had a Lotus Elise soft top that was relatively simple in complexity but still a hassle, having to go into the boot and then to each side of the car to install. I would love to have an SRS and would probably leave the soft top in the basement, but then it becomes the no rain day car and not really leaving it in public spaces too long. I've no doubt SRS will be a riot to drive on the streets

I think the lack of security is a real deterrent for the SRS too. Hard to use on the road if you can’t leave it anywhere without a 10 minute install.

Also probably pretty easy to break into.

I saw one at the rensport festival And it really didn't seem that much less secure than any other soft top. Just have to jump through a few hoops to install or remove

Water/rain wasn't leaking in

I get that, but the number of people that detest the roof is comical as this is a toy car that has no impact on their lives. All the comments on Youtube videos about how it's 2024 and it should be an automatic top, etc. There is absolutely no reason someone can't live with the roof on the SRS. I get it if you don't want to deal with it, but it's not that big of a deal.

Question for those with a 4RS and other cars: What do you think is a perfect pairing to take the other garage spot if you already have a 4RS? I'm selling my Ferrari 458 tomorrow and now have an open garage spot to pair with my 4RS. I was thinking of a manual 991.2 GT3 but many friends have commented how the GT3 feels "soft" compared to the 4RS and I may not enjoy that with the RS. There's also the 991.2 GT3RS but it seems very redundant with two PDK cars and the same engine.

Great contrast

If people detest it, it is what it is. We're here in a Porsche forum, and opinions about cars will be expressed.

2 suggestions I would offer:
991.2 GT3 touring
911 Dakar

They're laughing at you. Porsche, I mean. You get that, right?

I'm not saying this is perfect or for everybody but I have a 2017 Targa 4S with the x51 power kit and a cobb custom tune. Makes about 525 to 550 horsepower. Great low end torque, manual transmission, and open air experience. Those last three characteristics are missing in the 4RS, so a nice compliment. It's my wife's favorite car to take out or go on vacation with. Plus I'm a sucker for convertibles or top down experiences. And the Targa look is classic Porsche. 992 Targa has the same characteristics.

I think a GT3 or 3RS would be too similar with the engine and being a coupe and PDK with the 3RS. Speedster would be great for the open air experience. A Dakar would be up there as well.

I'm not sure who said they detested the SRS because of the top. The top is a more limiting factor than most other cars or other convertibles. Especially the top speed. Otherwise the SRS has got to be an incredible experience!

Perfect pairing in what sense? Another fun road car? Practical car? Track car?

Another fun car primarily for the canyons. Has to be a GT type car for the special feel and fizz.

Keep the damn 458! It’s a better change up than two P cars!
