Most NIHL (noise-induced hearing loss) is caused by the damage and eventual death of these hair cells. Unlike bird and amphibian hair cells, human hair cells don’t grow back. They are gone for good.
Sound is measured in units called decibels. Sounds at or below 70 A-weighted decibels (dBA) are generally safe. Long or repeated exposure to sounds at or above 85 dBA can cause hearing loss.
4RS is easy over 105DB mine reads 116DB at 9k peak.
As I stated "them the facts"

With a proper db meter, the 4RS doesn't have 116db at all. My last car exhaust at 3 meters marked 107db, and it was unbearable to me, no hay the 4RS has even the same 107db

I started to write up a "it's not too loud" post, but what's the point. If you haven't bought the car and it's an issue for you, don't buy it. If you have and it's an issue for you, then take the steps to fix it to suit you. My strong suspicion is that it's not an issue for the majority of owners, myself included.

The only place I've seen people complain about the level of the sound, or not like the sound, is here and YouTube. Anyone I've spoke with on the 4RS likes it and anyone that has ridden in my SRS has also liked it. And for what it's worth I'm over 50 and also have the buckets. No issues for me. I like it and don't spend a ton of time in the 7-9K range. Might a little more on the mountain roads, but driving around it's not excessive time.

I got a ride in a GT4 RS yesterday.
I did not think it was loud.

"Loudness is measured on a logarithmic scale. This means that an increase of 10 decibels (dB) represents a 10-fold increase in sound intensity and a doubling of the perceived loudness."
So, 115dB would subjectively seem 8 times louder than 85dB.

All these hearing issues are why I am going all in on noise suppression for this car. I am hoping to keep it for a long time. Hearing loss and tinnitus are real problems in modern society, and I see people every week in my office for such complaints. Anything you can do to mitigate loud noises throughout your life will pay dividends when you get older. As stated earlier, the effects are permanent and cumulative.

Am I the only one that finds this bizarre? You make your car way louder to the point that it's unbearable so you put in earplugs? And then it's just everybody else that has to tolerate it? Is it more about the tone or a performance you're after then? Is it a "some of the time it's worth it and the rest of the time it isn't" sort of thing?
As loud as the 4RS is inside, the stock sound outside of the car doesn’t do it for me at all.
