Quick Spyder Market Observation
#92
Congrats on purchase, OP. I have been looking for a 718 Spyder but not that hard. Our 22 Macan S is on order and scheduled for late summer delivery plus on the dealer list for 718 Spyder. Who knows if my number is called? Dealer does not charge ADM. I would pay a small ADM of a few thousand but not 20K. I can use that money toward Porsche school at Barber and Racing School Europe (Mugello or Barcelona). My other consideration is building an Arch motorcycle. I am fine with normal depreciation but ADM is not a loss I want to take on top of that.
Manufacturing and the car market will return to normal. There are a lot of headwinds in the economy right now (higher interest rates, declining stock prices, a recession?) Most consumers are impulsive and manufacturer's make their money by building products (especially if Porsche has IPO). The manufacturer's want inventory on the dealer's lots.
I can justify paying a "small" ADM on CPO car and really only looking at Porsche dealer cars. I have inquiries open at 2 dealers right now.
1. Sent inquiry through dealer website. Internet Manager reached out to me with a few questions and I responded. A salesperson (Michael) reached out that he would call me later that afternoon and that was 30 days ago. The car shows still there according to their website and carfax shows no new registration.
2. This inquiry went to GM of Porsche dealer. He responded with a couple of questions which I answered. Still waiting for response but it has only been 6 days.
3. The dealer that has Macan order has had a couple of 718 Spyders come in used and I never got a phone call to even gauge my interest.

Unfortunately, it is a seller’s market right now. Buyer has to do a bit of the legwork.
It you see something that you like, make an offer.
I hate to tell you this. But in this current environment, buying a Macan simultaneously is not much of a leverage from your end.
All dealers think they are doing YOU a favour by selling you a brand new car.

To me, it looks like the dealers that you are working with think the cars will sell themselves. Not putting in too much effort IMO.

In the meantime, I enjoy going to ride and drives at the track.

My experience with the 981 GT4 and Spyder Market was obviously fundamentally different, but I think it offers clues. With the Spyder RS coming, this topic now has my interest.

120k for a 22 Spyder. Seems on the lower side?

Wonder if ADM's going up since this is now the last production year of the GT4/Spyder and Porsche released that video of the electric GT4 racecar which means they weren't kidding about the platform going EV.

They told me that at least a couple of weeks ago now, so I think that was before the video.

Interestingly just had a dealer on a car I was looking at call me. I had offered 22K over and they told me to pound sand (they were at 32K over). Called me today wanting to do the deal. Probably meaningless just updating.

Do they still have it? Sketchy.
They wanted 60k when I called a while back and I told them I'd consider 30k. They told me they'd see, and asked me to reconsider a bit ago. I said I was firm at 30k and then I got a text saying it was sold? Weird.

Here’s one for you, about $60k above MSRP (CDN): $210k list. The dealers in Eastern Canada continue to push the lightly used list prices to the stars.
