Two of my favorite colors, two of my favorite cars.
Note that Arctic Grey is a very difficult color to correctly capture in a digital image. Lots of cameras process it in a way that makes it look much lighter than it looks to the eye. But Agate is also an awesome color! I think the choice would depend a bunch on what car it is on. Arctic looks particularly good (IMHO) on the GT4 RS Weissach with all the black contrasts. But I saw it on a Cayenne and didn't care for it at all on that large, blocky body with few contrasting panels.
Agate Grey Metallic is much darker, and (obviously) metallic. A rich charcoal tone. Arctic Grey is darker than Chalk, darker than many of the other non-metallic Porsche light greys, and has a hint of blue that comes out much more under artificial light.

Awesome. Trying to figure out if it is worth the $4k upcharge from Agate for a 911. I'm thinking not.

Yeah, its a bit of a crap shoot what particular colors will be $ or $$ or $$$ or even $$$$$$$ on any given Porsche model...
eg:
On the 992 Turbo, Agate is $0 and Arctic is $3,270.
On the 4RS, Arctic is $3,500 and Agate isn't even an available PTS color, I would have had to go "PTS Plus" for an insane $32,000 up-charge.
That said, if you love the Agate, you will forget about the $4K quickly but smile every time you look at the car.
What car are you spec'ing out?
---
I'll also mention that metallic colors like Agate are MUCH better at hiding imperfections in the paint and a bit of dirt than non-metallic colors like the Arctic. Arctic is almost like a 'guide coat' primer used in auto body shops to intentionally highlight every imperfection. I think fine for a special car that will really be taken care of, but I'm not sure i'd want it on a daily driver.

Looking at a GT3 Touring build. On the list for a 992.2 so it may be a pipe dream. I want PTS but that may also be a pipe dream. If PTS I would probably go Viola Metallic and if not, I'm leaning towards Agate. If I can get an allocation that is not PTS, I won't turn it down hoping to get a PTS. I do find that I like the 911 in darker, less "playful" colors as in my mind at least, it is a more serious and classic silhouette. I like yours in Agate and nothing in your pictures makes me think that Arctic is a better match. This would be semi-DD.
I agree that the 911 is "more serious" and looks better to my eyes with less shocking colors- especially the Carreras and GT3 Touring. The cars with the big wings look great in loud colors IMO.
That said, that's where Arctic Grey would be a perfect choice. I'm sorry guys, but Agate is just too dull for me personally. It is a great looking color but personally I'm not too keen on the idea of blending in THAT much with the sea of drab minivans and Honda Pilots out there. Arctic Grey is a great blend of exciting and serious. And while yes you do see similar colors on "normie" cars (I see Honda's Sonic Grey Pearl EVERYWHERE), it is at least different enough to invoke just a bit more emotional response when I look at it. For me, anyway.
