I think it's a personal decision what to buy and what to be willing to pay for it. In my case, I have multiple cars and bought the 4RS without the opportunity to try driving one on track (drove one three times on the road, and coached in one on track). I was ok with buying it at MSRP because, if I want to sell the car at some point, I figure there's a good chance that I can sell it (or trade it in) for at least the MSRP I paid.

ADMs suck. Some people are fortunate to have the connections with the dealerships that doesn't charge ADM. I would have much prefer that with an understanding that I would sell or trade the car back. Wasnt an option for me. I wanted the car I had to pay an ADM, end of story. Had I held out maybe I would have got an allocation 2 years later. The price is now $15,000 higher than it was before. But it came down to I wanted the car sooner rather than later. I don't lose sleep over it now nor will I next year or in 5 years, regardless of whatever it's worth.

I've never paid over MSRP for any new car, including four Porsche GT cars.

I did pay $240k last year for a CPO 991.2 3RS that has MSRP of $225k, but $225k in 2019 inflates to $270k in 2023, and of course I couldn't buy a new one in 2023 anyway. Moreover, the car had full PPF, roll bar, and harnesses, so about $10k in value there. Plus, I think the cars is well worth the $240k I paid.

Having a more recent model year tends to offset YoY price hike when selling or trading in the car. The hike from 2024 is 2025 is pretty small, as I expected. MSRP isn't going to moon, as some have predicted, because the target market for Porsches is generally not people who are shopping for exotics. Porsches, even the 4RS, are relatively mass produced compared to exotics.

These conversations are funny. Want to watch money evaporate? Buy a new Macan GTS and keep it for 5-6 years. RS cars are going to plateau and then slowly appreciate, they always do.

I'm guessing in the history of all cars ever made, 99% depreciate. Covid supply chain changed the used car depreciation curve. Seems like we're back to almost normal.

I have this general argument quite often with people who only look at upfront face-value cost and not "cradle to grave" cost/value, e.g., should I buy a BMW X5 or a Lexus GX, "they're the same price".....Buying a 4RS is a no-brainer. Only Cayman with a GT3 motor, last cayman with a ICE motor. ~7,000 examples worldwide? Arguably the most fun modern Porsche ever made.

I've made a sort of informal database where I'm tracking these cars. The data isn't perfect, and I am in no way affiliated with Porsche, Autotrader, Cars.com, etc, so take these numbers with a grain of salt. However, there are 48 GT4 RS vehicles for sale as of right now where they are not listed as new, the price is not listed as "Contact Dealer", and I know what the MSRP is. For me to have knowledge of the MSRP, the vehicle has to have at one point been listed for sale on finder.porsche.com with an available window sticker since I started keeping track in March. Also, keep in mind these are published list prices, not what the cars eventually sell for or if they are removed from the market.

Average markup over window sticker price: $47,984
Best priced vehicle: 2023 Arctic Grey GT4 RS - Weissach - 6,382 miles - Ferrari/Maserati of Fort Lauderdale - $224,900, $16,730 over sticker
Worst priced vehicle: 2023 GT Silver Metallic GT4 RS - Weissach - 35 miles - Porsche Greenwich - $293,140, $100,000 over sticker

not sure what this means, you know there are portions of buyers that get msrp and are first in line and arent "waiting for an msrp slot" correct? People that are on MSRP lists at ADM dealers are never getting the car and likely can't afford it anyways. Others are willing to wait because they dont need the car or want it bad enough. FWIW one can make the argument that your 35k or whatever ADM couldve made about about 3x in conservative investments over that time, so if you want to get all mathy on us.... well, nvm...or would you want that 100k investment and pay the nominal 4k price hike since my23

100%. This is why I will never buy anything other than an RS car now. Some GT3 cars will level and appreciate but most won't. I have watched this data since 2010. All RS's if kept in good shape will appreciate at some point. The speed and how much which will vary from gen, mileage, options, color and rarity.
