no, it is not an investment.
Not an investment in the traditional sense of course. My point is more along the lines of I've had 5 P cars. Two PTS. I have made sure to buy the right models, spec and colors. My net profit on these 5 cars is substantial. A hell of a lot more than my 401K over the same time. I also pay cash for my cars. No finance and I don't buy and sell them based on the available funds I am making from the stock market. Plenty of ways to skin the cat..

It’s hard to predict which cars will be collectible over the long term. I bought my 964 cup in 2006, then proceeded to race the bejeezus out of it over the next 10 years. Certainly didn’t know it would appreciate so significantly else I wouldn’t have driven it so hard. Im looking at something like a 10.5% IRR on that car (including restoration costs) which is pretty darn good.

I do think the 4RS has appreciation potential, but it’s not a slam dunk by any means.

I thought about this some more and I really can't do this to this dealership. When my GT4 was promised at MSRP and 18 months later, right during the height of COVID when all other GT4s were selling for 10-20k over, they still gave it to me at MSRP. I guess it works both ways.

I certainly wouldn't feel bad for at least asking the question, especially when that $75k is going straight into the GM's pocket. You obviously like to spec your cars pretty highly, so they should see you as a valued customer, and may make that back on a future purchase. As I was told as a youngin, don't ask, don't get.

Don't feel bad, I bought a 1-of-1 PTS 997.2 GT3RS for $115k about 10 years ago. I drove it about 20k miles and put 50 track days on it and sold it for $200k. Today that car is probably worth $400k but I did use it to buy my 997 GT3RS 4L so it worked out.

Doesn't hurt to ask and check the temperature....worst thing they say is NO. Not sure you should be loyal to a dealership that his charging a high ADM.

I reckon any 4RS will be good no matter what options are added. Just get one and use as engineered.

So the 4RS comes with a rubber dash or Racetex for WP? Is there a leather option?

yeah RL is a little too option crazy. Forget pts or weissach or devalued stitching….

how are you driving the car? I got 4 track days on my gt4 manual in 7 months and I drove my 991.2 gt3rs like it was stolen for 3 years.

also with all my custom ordered cars you are always going to be wondering if you should or shouldn’t have gotten this option or color, it’s never truly perfect

just ask them nicely if they’ll lower the adm to current market if you don’t want to get anyone too riled up

OK.. back on topic .. how much longer does the thread think allocations will be forthcoming? Or is it all done? I assumed MY24 is last year of production and allocations will be ending very soon..

No offense to anyone, but the driving isn't impressive. Not braking hard enough, slow corner entries, missing apexes, needs to learn to use the paddles.

I have two different cleaning ladies communicating very different opinions on this:

1. Continuing alongside the RS Spyder halfway into MY25.
2. GT4RS will finish production prior to the RS Spyder in MY24 and RS Spyder/718 R will go into MY25.

I'm not sure which one is right but both seem to feel confident and are well connected. FYI RS Spyder allocations just dropped in Europe for October allocations and March allocations.
