anyone notice that once you configure a vehicle, and the vehicle saved to the 'my configurations' section, the interior of the vehicle changes to all leather rather than the race-tex? Just a rendering bug or perhaps sign of things to come? I really hope this is the case... I hate race-tex / alcantara. I may be able to live with it in a coupe, but I am still torn about Porsche's decision to force you to alcanara dash w/ Weissach Package.
Just one of many Configurator bugs. BTW... it's the base interior with no leather (notice the missing topstitched seams)
Got the call from my guy yesterday. Now have to decide if I go with Weissach or stay more clean like my regular Spyder.
I’m going without weissach. It’s just too much for a few kilos of weight savings. I want the mag wheels badly and pts but when all is said and done that’s over 40k in add-ons for a 169k car.
If I get a build slot, 718 gt4 6spd stays. my first Porsche and I love it so much. E36 M3 has to stay too. Would get a second lift for Spyder RS.
Who knows if I'll get a shot, I'm a small fish !

There is no weight savings going WP without the mag wheels.
You go WP to unlock Mag/PTS or you like the upgraded touches.
I’m in the last camp, it’s not bad value for all the OEM exposed CF and Race-Tex if that is your cup of tea. Not for everyone I agree.

Create two builds:
- Your perfect build, as thought cost is no object
- The best 'budget' build you can come up with
Compare the two builds and see if the cost delta is worth it to you. You may or may not need WP to get what you want.
Tangential question: how do you manage to drive and maintain so many cars?
I have 11 cars and am ready too downsize. It’s just too much. More of a burden than fun.
I hear you… for me it’s becoming a burden. I tell my girlfriend regularly that I’m put of my mind. She helps me and is very patient but we spend way too much time caring for the cars. I decided I am going to start doing my own oil changes… already did one recently. It’s easy. And I am mechanically inclined and very precise and particular with the details. I have a lift at my car warehouse where I tinker and do other work like remove wheels, etc. But I’m out of my mind… every car I have is the best trim of its model range and it nearly kills me to think of selling for downsize purposes. Picking any single car for the chopping block is an impossible decision. I am too particular to involve another person because I’m not a billionaire and therefore can’t pay a big salary to the proper person… but ideally it’d be better to have help. All the car washing, tire pressures, battery maintenance, not to mention 15 visits to service per year… it’s taken over my life. And this Spyder RS thing is further addiction. I’ll be getting the Spyder RS but I acknowledge it’s a vehicle that’s way overpriced… my 2023 Z06 Conv costs less and it’s quite a bit more car for the money. Same with my 2023 R8 Rwd Spyder. It’s a better car than the Boxster, and I don’t care what engine is in the Boxster.
PS Regarding some previous comments by others… I think we can agree a thread is long since derailed when it has over 6,500 posts and 400+ pages… at this stage of a long thread people like to converse with each other; and when it comes to my comments about 981 Spyder and other cars, they are relevant because people interested in Spyder RS want to hear feedback about alternatives and related cars. Take a chill… the Spyder RS subject material has been beaten to death thousands of times over… there’s nothing new to learn at this point. Sure we can have a thread with 6,000 more posts about what colors and configurations are acceptable or fun, but that would be a bit boring in isolation. Right now we are all just hanging out in a waiting room talking to each other loosely about Spyder RS and other related topics that arise.

I only got the weissach to get PTS. Im not a big fan of the exposed carbon hood.

Are you (or anyone else) speccing PCCB? Debating hard on whether it is worth it on a street car for basically the yellow accent and lack of brake dust, ie. purely cosmetic reasons (will never track so unsprung weight and performance are non-issues)..

If I get a PTS build then I'm going PCCB's. Have them on my 4RS and the no brake dust/pedal feel in the canyons is great plus you can then match the interior details to the PCCB's. No one really tracks PCCB's because they're so expensive to replace the rotors.

For a high-end street sports car, I'd absolutely get PCCB. It offers better feel, and you may notice better handling even on the street.
PCCB rotors will last roughly 50 track days if you replace pads when they're half done. Expensive, but some people think the better feel is worth it.

Hmm ok thanks. I had PCCB on my 718 Spyder and did love how they felt, too. I looked at matching the interior with yellow stitching but I have to decide if I like that subtle look vs having the standard arctic grey or red seat centers..

I skipped ceramics on my targa gts and have regretted it ever since. Not having to clean my wheels once a week is easily worth 9k over the life of the ownership. Plus they work great. Will always spec ceramics if it’s an option
Where is everyone on the windshield frame? Matching body color, or matt black? Ever since the launch model / video debut of the Spyder RS w/ matt black frames, the painted ones really look weird now. Looking at it from the side, with the matt black windshield frame, I feel that car's body shape / profile is much more accentuated. Anyone else share my view?
