Now we're talking. Thanks for the post. Sounds pretty darned good, stock, imo.
Still would rather a manual - lol Instant shifts sound...robotic / antiseptic to me, for some reason. For science, I am willing to subject myself to the car to see if I can be swayed!
It just goes to show you it isn't he GT3 engine that makes a GT3 sound as it does, it is the plumbing. The car from the video sounds just like the GT cars, sort of raspy and hollow. I like the stock sound in certain ranges but once you've heard a nice blended X-pipe tone it is hard to go back. Perhaps you don't hear the exhaust at all with these cars, with the intake sound dominating, if that was truly the case I'd leave it stock too as I don't care if the pedestrians enjoy the sound of my car, I only care if I do.

It's the rear muffler on the GT4/Spyder/4RS/SRS that really make it sound too deep and not GT car like. Here's what my Spyder sounded like when you buy the right rear muffler + OAP's(volume enhancement only). https://imgur.com/a/v552AvB
On the 981 GT4's, the rear muffler was actually very open/free flowing so all you had to do was the right race headers and it would sound like a cup car.
You know not one of the audio clips were live right? Every last one was dubbed and to my ears it sounds like they were taken from a base Spyder not a RS. It's a promo video, nothing else so I wouldn't put much stock into it.

This could be an interesting review, Matt drove the regular Spyder when it came out for almost a week, and of course he has the DeMan version of his own now, couple that his seat time in the 4RS and I'll bet he has an opinion or two!
Good marketing video. These people know how to push our buttons.
But the video reminds me that the ability to enjoy this car is highly dependent on the roads you have access to, and how fast you're willing to go on public roads.
Also, the guy in the video looks like he fits the target market. But why is he alone?
The unfortunate truth: good roads, scenery and weather trump the actual car. I’ll take a base boxster with good roads, scenery and weather over any insanely good car. My statement has limits. Taking our 2019 Range Rover thru all the tree/water lined twisties around my house, on a beautiful day, is still just not fun. That beast is made to go in a relatively straight line in comfort and style; curves are not its friend. BUT, give me a base boxster with perfect surroundings over a cgt with sub-par surroundings; all day every day.
Which is why, one day, I’m guessing I have a base/s boxster and just take that thing any/everywhere beautiful I can. And a car I can crumple into a smashed beer can around the track and ngaf. And call it good.

Good point, I think you're right. If you're driving screaming fast in an open top car, you're not able to appreciate the environment. And if you're driving screaming fast, it's safer and seems more appropriate to have a fixed roof.
Maybe I already have the right convertible: 2010 E93 M3 convertible. NA engine revs to 8,300 and sounds fantastic, and pulls linearly. Handling is good, but not so good that you want to hoon it. Hydraulic steering feels good in that old school way. DCT transmission is great, in the same league as PDK, but with five levels of aggression to choose from. The car is fast enough, but not too fast - just right for public roads. Bought mine last year in mint condition with 27k miles on it for only $40k - a lot cheaper than an SRS!
