If I miraculously get an allocation, I’ll totally drive it. Tours, occasional track days, sunny days for no reason, and yes C&C. I’ll treat it just like I do my current car, ie treat it well, but not shrink from driving it to whatever.
I’ll definitely look for quick reaction ways to respond to weather, because if you’re going to drive, you’re going to get caught out by weather. Either that, or dump a 55 gallon drum of leather protector in the cabin.

I've had a 981 Spyder since the first round of deliveries. I got caught out *exactly once* in nearly 8 years. By "caught out" I meant raining and speeds below 40mph. Basically stop and go traffic. I pulled over to the median (I was stuck on a ramp) and put on a fun show for other motorists. My "we had a lot of customers inquire" from a dealer was when I was spotted out in 34F (1C) weather, for 2 hours, in a fairly heavy rainstorm in which I was top down (though eventually rolled the windows up) THE ENTIRE TIME because I was doing highway speeds.
If you're going 40mph or above, you do not get wet. I have ~15 years of experience with this first with a Mazda Miata, and now with the Spyder. Air accelerates as it goes over the windshield and the leading edge of the windshield frame. So you basically get an "air shield" which keeps you and the interior dry, or at worst as if someone sprtized your hair once or twice with a spray bottle. The only thing that somewhat happens is there is a negative-pressure area behind the roll hoops that kind of "sucks air from behind you into your neck" which is why wind deflectors exist (it stops that).
Why do they make the steering wheel stripe and the gear shifter letters yellow when there's no option to get yellow stitching or otherwise have a yellow theme in the interior?
I think you can. You get the extended deviated stitching package. It will not “populate” in the configurator but I do think you can still get it. I base this on seeing a Rubystar Neo 4RS with yellow deviated stitching. If you go into the configurator for that car you have the choice to select it but it does not show up on the configurator. I did send a code to my dealer/SA with the comment that if I do get an allocation that there would be a lot of questions and how to get it like I want it.
Is there a rough estimate of production of srs? About 1/2 of 4rs?
this car is perfect, god bless that new stupid removable roof
Honestly, as someone with a 981 that had the 987.2 actually get me to go into Porsche dealerships back in the day, I'm glad they basically brought the old sun shield back. On days with light rain where you're stuck at low speeds, you can just take out the back piece, roll the windows down, and everything stays dry. In the 981 and 982/718, you want to be a 40+mph if you want to stay dry. Plus there are ZERO motors to eventually go bad. Even the 981 and 982/718 have an electronic latch to tighten it against the windshield frame.
If you go to car shows, it's a fun thing you can do with folks too. I let people put the top back up and back down at shows all the time. People love being able to do it even more than having their photos taken of them inside the car.
Longshot, but anyone have a lead on allocations? My dealer has deposits in the teens and only might get 4.
Asking for a friend who has a 2023 Spyder now.
Thanks.
I'm reaching out to my salesman I've known since my 20s tomorrow, but European deliveries are starting in July. US deliveries are starting in Spring. Outside of maybe the biggest dealers in the US, I'd reckon allocations really aren't being handed out yet, if at all.
I really like the bold Carmine red seats, but only the new grey, white, and black seem to work with it. Kinda boring.
Also, with those colors, not sure the WP makes any sense.
If I get this car, it will be driven a bunch and won’t be at any C&C event.
i think u can superman spec it with gentian easily and if so bold, shark. i agree the interior and exterior options aren't the best. good way to boost cxx take rate!
