Given that they are showing the engine in GT4 RS through rear glass (which is a nice feature in the new Cayman RS), I wonder if they will go to the mesh streamliners/humps, similar to Carerra GT to show engine as well in Spyder RS.

The 911R mention made me think of a Cayman R with GT3 engine and a manual, or call it a GT4 Touring? How many of those could they sell? So many possibilities.

Yes Carrera GT was targa top but not sure why they couldn’t implement the screens on rear deck lid. It would also help with heat release. It helped with Ferrari 360 Spyder. Ferrari had glass and vents but don’t think that would work with humps. Perhaps cost is a reason, but there won’t be bracing, upper side air ducts, etc with Spyder as there is with GT4 RS so assuming there will have to be a few design changes with Spyder.

Speaking of Carrera GT, how (or rather where) is the roof panel(s?) stored? Does the car have any available space in the frunk to stow them or did the owners have to take it off in their garages and leave it behind?
Functionality is a very important aspect. So I'd like to be able put the top up or down whenever I would like, even if I have to pull over for a minute to do it manually by hand.

So the Spyder becomes a Targa…I suppose anything is possible.
Perhaps easiest is to just work with the current plumbing.

My cleaning lady says RS Spyder & 718 R are on the table. 718 R will be much more limited and think of 911 R, RS Spyder will be more readily available but big MSRP difference vs a GT4RS since this will be the 2nd convertible type of car to get a GT3 engine while the first(Speedster) is 300k+.

Same roof - same everything - but solid streamliners/humps are replaced with metal mesh inserts. Not the hill to die over for me - would love a Spyder RS with just the engine swap (and manual of course
) - just thinking that Porsche went to the trouble of showing engine in RS, which they didn’t do in GT4 so maybe they would share that thinking when releasing RS Spyder.

The top sits right on top of the engine when lowered.
