I cannot see getting a Spyder RS, if one ever comes out (I doubt it will) since I am not sure what I would get above and beyond what I have now. I have Soul Street headers with high flow cats, Soul Resonated Race exhaust, Softronic tune, DSC Module and lots of goodies I added, which cost me a lot less than a RS with ADM would cost with a PDK...I don't think so.

It's sort of a question whether the PDK transmission which is less desirable in that kind of car, is worth the access to the GT 3 engine

I’ve stayed away from this thread and the GT4 RS thread because I have no interest in either, but here I go finally chiming in…
IMHO, it’s a no brainer for P town to build this *if* it’s possible to semi-replicate an RS into a Spyder.
Of course there will be some compromise, but if it’s close, then there’s reason to do so.
They lost a boatload of money due to both the pandemic and the stop sale.
Limited editions are profitable and will help the bottom line, so financially it makes sense and I’m betting that there’s going to be one.
Now whether it’s PDK or Manual… well, there’s your crapshoot.

They will definitely build it. Starting to think @jeanrabelais has the right idea…better to have two Spyders. PDK Spyder RS and a 6MT 4.5L Spyder

Drove home in the PDK yesterday and it's a different animal imho. the 7 gear and lack of a peddle changes the experience dramatically. Perfect for all the traffic lights and traffic in SoCal. The MT is so sporty and engaging and visceral just seems so different an experience in what is supposed to be the same car.

This would be my take as well, I love the MT and it connects me to the Spyder with every shift...

Also, in regard to the Spyder RS, I let my SA, Rob Owen, know I would be interested in trading in my Red Spyder for a Spyder RS allocation. Fingers Crossed that the car will be announced and built.

Anyone hear anything else about a potential Spyder RS? Geneva would have been the expected reveal date for some new Porsches but the 2022 show has been canceled...

Well if the EV replacement for the 718 is slated for 2025... and we are near 2023 MY... that would mean it would have to debut sometime this year? Question is when. Is LA too late?

A Spyder RS would be a great way to end the NA models. Please Porsche Gods. Give us a convertible RS mid engine Sports car.

Default No mules seen for spyder rs

There are those pointing to this as evidence that there is no such critter (and maybe they are right).

Other than “it’s a myth,” what else might be the reason for this? Those that follow pre-model release hijinx closely, what do you read from this? How long in advance of model release would a mule necessarily appear? Might it be in deep cover? Or do snoops exist everywhere, making that impossible?

If it doesn’t have significantly different aero than a regular spyder, is a mule strictly necessary?

At this point, I am taking a strict BTFOOM, wait and see approach.

that would be me! (but happy to be proved wrong)

doing a quick google search seems like the 1st sightings of the 4RS mule were in Sept '19 ... this seems in line with previous GT mule sightings around 12-18 months prior to launch.

718 Spyder mules appear to be 1st spotted in early '18 ...

snoops certainly hang around the 'Ring and Zuffenhausen ... it would be hard to hide it from public view IMO

As for mule requirements - pretty much every GT variant I can personally recall has been 'Ring tested prior to launch...

my "guess" is that any change, such as engine & possibly transmission would require some level of actual testing required, if for no other reason than to evaluate the increased performance impact on braking and suspension etc...

YMMV

p.s
there is also the open question in my mind about what suspension modifications (if any) such a Spyer model might require - any changes in such would definitely result in a mule for testing

never but I think, putting aside the model naming nomenclature (i.e its not an RS - that moniker being reserved for track focused models), there is a valid question of is there a Spyder model w/the 4RS (GT3) engine (& PDK) coming... (or not)
