Add my 2020 Spyder to the list. Happened today on spirited drive. 12 K on odometer. I will bring into Pfaff Porsche this week and see what they say. Interesting reading all the posts in this thread.

These fail all the time...you can drive / track safely...its basically a solid mount if it fails is what I was told by dealership and motorsport shop

Porsche is now on the 6th iteration of this part for some 718 applications. Quite obviously a chronic issue...

Another one for the list here...

2020 GT4, 5K miles. Only picked the car up at the end of July, failed within 2 weeks, into my OPC last week and confirmed right mount failure, no parts available on back order with no delivery eta.

On pff via Google translate

“By the way, it is positive that Porsche does not use PADM for the GT4 RS, and the GT4 does. The dynamic bearings are quite vulnerable, the sensor electronics fail relatively often (also here in the PFF topic) and it gets quite expensive. With 992 GT3/RS you also threw them out, their storage on the engine, and took hard hydro bearings. With my 992 GT3, slight vibrations were occasionally felt after cold start, but absolutely not disturbing, with the GT4 RS nothing that bothers. Slightly less weight without the dynamic bearings does not hurt either. For the first time, Porsche has used dynamic bearings in the track area at 997.1 GT3, Today they are thrown out again.”

Any knowledge/confirmation of this?

Definitely the case on 992 based GT cars. 3/3RS

I was looking for a reference statement on 4RS but couldn’t find one to corroborate.

pff 720s and my OPC said in response to my asking for the GT4 RS mounts to be fitted said they can’t be because electronics and wiring loom. See post on PCGB forum. Part numbers also completely different.

Update: I brought the car to dealership yesterday. After an hour on hoist - was told they needed replacement parts. They don’t have any - nor does Germany. They have no idea when they will be available. I may end up getting repair done in Florida this winter, as they were not very optimistic on getting these parts anytime soon.

Thanks for your post. For someone like me who was already unsure about bringing the car in, you saved me a lot of unnecessary time at the dealership. Best of luck.

To my knowledge, the GT4RS does not have PADM but conventional monts. According to various statements those RS mounts (1/2 price of the GT mounts) should be harder than the normal 718 mounts (1/5 price of the GT mounts), but softer than a fixed bearing as in the Clubsport. Part number according to my PETKA is 9GT 399 201.

It seems to me that the aftermarket solution is brought to you by Porsche themselves :-) So, who's first?

Disclaimer: I'm not even sure if they fit...

A few people have already checked.
They’ve been told it’s not backward compatible. would require wiring loom change and software change to then code the active mounts out.

Would love for someone to try it though and make the changes to make it work.

That said… if the 718 Clubsport has solid/fixed part… it was based on the 718 GT4 so should have similar wiring? Therefore maybe that part could be compatible and then just need coding?

The wiring harness doesn't matter, does it? You pull off the plug and that's it?

Sure, the PADM would still have to be coded out. But that should be feasible.

I wonder if it is mechanically compatible if it fits.

Upon thinking it through.... quite right... if you're coding out anyway... and its a passive mount anyway... wiring is irrelevant.
