PADM Failure Discussion

[QUOTE=Nick_CT;17575510]I picked up the car on Tuesday. The PADM disabled message comes up sometimes when I start the car, other times after 30 minutes of driving. Ultimately I've got the car now and am very happy, it's a beauty. When the replacement comes next week they'll give me something from their floor to drive whilst they get the job done. PADM issue aside, it's a freakin great piece of machinery.

Beautiful car. Congrats. What color?
I hope the PADM issue is short lived and you can enjoy the honeymoon we all long for.
Nice shoes, too. Where'd you get 'em? lol

Subscribed. Interested to learn what is involved in the repair, how long it takes, what is removed. My assumption is that it is a warranty repair - I cannot imagine why it wouldn’t be covered.
Thanks to all for sharing your experiences. Mine is a 2021, and still tucked away for winter storage. It has 3866 miles with zero issues. It will be emerging soon (next week?) since the roads are finally washed clean of salt/winter treatment chemicals.

Is there any vendor who makes poly mounts for this car? Seems an opporunity for moar NVH but less weight and one less failure mode.

Got a PADM disabled light on my 2020 718 GT4. 5200 miles. Dealer diagnosis showed the mount was defective. Part is backordered and have been waiting for ~2weeks for an ETA.

Once they had the part I think they had the car for a few days, I forget as it was almost a year ago now. They gave me a PDK GTS as a loaner for the time. Mine's a manual so was nice to feel the difference. If I remember correctly they ordered the part and got it a week later. This was back in mid 2021.

PADM Disabled (Failure) - Very Common?
A few days ago my 2021 718 Spyder PADM failed with PADM Disabled error message. Not super alarming since the car is under warranty and happens to be going into the shop for it's first year annual service. Apparently the repair is non trivial and expensive if not under warranty.
Curious though how common a problem this is? How many of you have ran into the issue? There seems to be hits a go-go when I search on the error message, but no way to ascertain how common a problem this is in context of how many cars Porsche builds.

Mine failed at 650 miles. Took about 6 weeks for the parts to arrive and get replaced. The real frustrating part was 4 days of waiting on the diagnosis visit and 3 days or so to get the replacement done.

Mine failed at 30000 miles on my 2017 991.2 S but showed no fault message. I complained to the dealer about a loud thunking from the rear over speed bumps and on bumpy roads. Took two trips to the dealer, first they said it was a loose air-box (which I didn't believe) and "repaired" it the same day. The second time I said they must keep the car as long as they need to resolve the issue. Five days later, they replaced both mounts under CPO warranty thankfully.

It's the diagnosis that could take a while unless there's an error message.
EDIT: Sorry, didn't realise this was the 718 forum, but hoping this helps somebody anyway.

Add my 2022 GT4 PDK to the list of PADM failures. It happened during my first run at NEPA SCCA Pocono Raceway East infield course autocross. I did some research and found a service bulletin for the 992's regarding PADM failures that stated "the engine mount will act like a conventional mount and a corresponding warning message will be displayed in the instrument cluster", so I decided to continue my running the rest of the day (but bailed out for day 2). I'm not sure if it was the placebo effect, but I did feel a difference and the car felt a little less predicable. Either way, I'm going to get it fixed ASAP just to be sure. I'm just waiting for an ETA from my dealership on the part and fix timeframe.

That's a drag @chriswd62. I know some folks have said it's difficult to discern the difference when the part fails, but I'm with you and I felt it, especially near the limit. My part just arrived late last week and the mount is getting repaired this Thurs ... so almost a month to get it repaired.

For those of you who may get this error code in the future and decide to fix it yourself, there is an excellent tutorial on the Cayman Registry forum. I replaced the mount on the passenger (difficult) side on my 2015 981 Cayman GTS using the Registry's guidance. Not easy, but doable. The hardest part is paying $1200 for the replacement mount.
