What did you buy your 718 today?

Anyone here have the Quick Jack 5000TL?
Every year it goes on sale at Costco and every year I'm tempted to buy it. Since I'm not tracking and probably just doing an oil change once a year and maybe swapping out an exhaust, I find it hard to justify especially since I have Jackpoint jackstands.

They're great to have, a bit time consuming to set up each time from storage position. I have read that the 718 plastic under belly pans cannot be removed while the car is on the jacks, so that stinks.
But overall, between the good height and safety factor, they're worth having IMO

Just ordered the BlackVue 2ch and some misc cords too hook it up. My blend mount on my previous car does not work with my GT4, So I am trying to figure out what I should do with my R1. Purchased my Kline Innovation exhaust + Cargrpahics controller during the black friday sale and Installed it last friday. Exhaust install is very straight forward, don't need to watch any vids or anything. Controller installed atleast on Cayman was a big pain as their was a lot of stuff to remove. Once everything was removed. the actual install of the controller was very easy.

I was in the market for one of these when I realized how inexpensive a flash tune is. With a tune not only can you the the PSE button to function as intended, you can turn off cylinder deactivation, turn off auto start / stop, and get more power. Best part, you can reverse it in a flash and there is no hardware or other messing around. A $1,400 tune seems like a better value and a lot more functional.

someone has tuned. MAF sensors, max boost, max torque/HP, etc. MissionTuning (the guy who Toyota asked to tune the new Supra when it came out) has a great blog on all the different ways to find tunes. You really think a massive corporation would let someone lease the car, tune it, return it and then the engine blows and Porsche is stuck with the bill? They have a lot more money to lose than some random 3rd party making the tune has to gain

there are so many other ways to see if

Not going to argue with you on this as it will go the same way as an oil thread. Some people choose not to tune and some people have been doing it for years on in-warranty cars with no issue, to each his/her own. However, the myth of "the warranty is void" is widely debunked. If so, everyone bolting on an exhaust or valve controller just voided their warranty.
LOL, it doesn't work that way. You last sentence is an over exaggeration. An exhaust or valve controller is in a TOTALLY different ballpark from playing with the ECU and making fuel/timing changes.

I have not heard of anyone whose engine warranty claim was denied recently due to a flash that was reversed prior to a dealer visit. Back in the day when I was into VWs and BMWs I had heard of some. With the new flashes, a OEM will have a hard time proving that you flashed it. But, if you know of any examples especially in the Porsche world, I would love to hear about it. With tens of thousands of late model cars sold and thousands of tunes, there must be some out there.

See this post from one of the well-known flash companies where the pertinent text is "We do not manipulate flash count values, defrauding Porsche isn't something we're interested in."

Just FYI: It appears that the flash counter does get bumped each time. If so inclined a flash then reflash to stock could be detected since those will increment the counter by two. There may also be a time stamp but that's not as clear.

As I said, to each their own and I totally understand some people don't want to risk it.
