i think they’re unnecessary as well. That said, they’re not intended to protect against an overfill so much as they’re supposed to catch that one drop off fuel that drops onto the paint as you pull the pump away from the car. That’s my understanding anyway.

Exactly. I'm extremely careful, but sometimes a pump drips even as you go to put it in.

I reached out to the company and asked about a round, double stitch flap with blue thread like the GTS one pictured above but they don’t offer it for a “p-car.” They must order these from somewhere else and just add the laser engraving. Seems odd they can stitch one shape with blue thread but not another.

Hard to imagine the leather patches were designed for dripping of gas, as (1) a little gas dripping never hurt anything and (2) why would anyone want to stuff a patch with gasoline into that space?
Was the patch designed to prevent the bottom of the gas handle from resting on the car? Not sure that even makes sense, as I have never had a gas handle rest on my GT4 when fully inserted . . . or any make/model car I have ever owned
This is the 'to each his own part,' but this leather patch is one of the more useless and ridiculous things I have seen on the forum . . . right up there next to purchasing aftermarket gas caps.

I was thinking it’s to protect the paint from scratches if the gas cap falls out of it’s little holster and hits the side of the car. Maybe the gas pump handle too? Gas drips aren’t too concerning.

1. use a paper towel (gas station has those anyway) and hold it under the nozzle before you pull out
2. Tap the nozzle against the brim before you pull out completely
3. Shake it like you would after you pee, LOL

It is not my leather flap and I’m not insulted, I just don’t understand why you’d go out of your way to say it is the most useless thing you’ve seen…sometimes I forget where I’m reading. Best to come here with no expectations of decorum.

FWIW - I agree about the leather piece as useless. LOL!
This week, I did a few things focused on comfort and sound.
1) I bought the BMC air filters ($179 at sun coast) that allows the engine to breathe better from the intake and reviews say that it increases the intake sound which I will like a lot if it does. In order to pair with the intake increase, I have decided to remove the OEM OAP and replace it with the Akrapovic Titanium Race Link Pipes ($2123) - OAP slip-on. I am keeping the OEM back box.
2). I have LWBS which (to me) are a little more upright than I like. So I ordered the TPC Racing Full Contact Seat Angle Brackets ($339) that will recline them perfectly for a more comfortable tilt. I have these on my LWBS in my 986 Boxster and it made a huge difference in comfort.
