Side Air Intake Grills: Available
#31
I installed Zunsport side grills on my 981 GTS and it was simplicity personified, I don't expect the 982 to be much different. I liked the look besides the extra protection. Some will raise the concern about reduced air flow, which is a non-issue IMO. Porsche actually had a service bulletin a few years back about the possibility of a lit cigarette getting in the intake and creating a fire, so they recognize this is a potential problem area. Just like the front radiators, I cannot understand why Porsche doesn't provide the grills themselves. They do have the front grills on the GT4 (more track oriented) but the possibility of debris damaging a radiator on the GTS models is just as great(as it is on the lesser 718 models too).

Guys, the design of the single slat intake piece (Spyder and GTS 4.0, cannot confirm for GT4) is different than the dual slat for regular 718. While the overall dimensions are identical, the regular 718 models have a flat surface, yet the Spyder/GTS 4.0 side intake pieces have a male/female type of a structure where the inner piece actually goes into the single slat of the outer shell. You can feel it if you run your fingers around the edges of the inside of the slat. I had previously purchased the regular 718 mesh grille from Eric at RGS and they did not fit as it is a flat piece of mesh. Sorry Eric, nothing personal I actually appreciate the what you're doing and support it.
I hope someone can test the new piece with the hexagon design and see if it fits our intake molds.

Will do, but it will need to be September or when the car is released for carb certification. I posted this photo to help anybody who was considering a purchase. Maybe somebody else will post photos of their install.

Hello all. I contacted Eric a while back about making these and it took a while to get the details and fitment worked out but he got it right and I just verified it when my car arrived so he will be updating the website for everyone to order, and I will try to get him to reply here personally; however, if not I will make sure everyone gets the info they need. And here are the first pics of my car, which I got 4 days ago so I have only been able to get PPF'd, ceramic coated, top sealed, etc., windows tinted, and side markers changed....lots more to come:

Thank you @sin911 for testing the 718 side intake grilles, and yes we now realized the 718 4 cylinder cars and the 4.0 cars have different side intake duct configurations. We now have the dimensions, set up and jig to create a great OEM looking side intake for one of the greatest car platforms on the market currently.

Great work Eric...and I told everyone that you would come through for all of us.
Off topic but I used the precut Laminx for the front side markers and it worked well; however, the ones for the rear reflectors do not come properly cut (too large at the centers and too wide at the outside) so I got a sheet of it to make my own. Several people have asked so I thought I should put it out here.
