Great! So, this flexible line will simply pull right off? What would I plug it with and what about the thing it's plugged into? That needs to be plugged up too so dirt doesn't get into it, right? Sorry for the ignorant questions! I'm a photo artist. I have 0 mechanical skills!
That "floating snap drain plug" HoosierDaddy used can be found at Cabelas/Bass Pro Shop for $4. I'm no boater/fisherman but they apparently are common with those guys. I plan to do this mod soon, thanks for the pics and write-up.
Thanks for he heads up, I think we have a Cabelas nearby...
On Amazon.ca they carry the 3/4" size but not the 1"size.
But one has to access the engine to do that, right? You should be able to pull the carpet back on do it easier that way for us lazy people.
Sorry Bob, time to get out the check book then...

As mentioned above you have get into the engine compartment for this mod, are you up for that and do you have the tools?
If you pull off the vacuum line then you should plug it with a suitable plug and also cap the port with a cap plug as well. You will need to know the relative sizes to obtain the parts, if someone knows them perhaps they will share.
I still think pulling the hose is better, plug the port at the control valve and firewall for complete isolation.
I want to try this vac disconnect, then, assuming it's quite noticeable, I'll have a tech disconnect everything by removing the piping, and plugging the holes with the expansion plugs, which I already have.
You can do it, but taking it apart twice to get to the same end result seems like a lot of extra work?? Like I said earlier, you will get some reduction in sound through the air by turning off the vacuum, but the best reduction in drone will come with total mechanical isolation and removal of the whole apparatus. I don't think we have anything but praise for doing any part of or all of the above noted modifications.
..................I plan on taking out the whole tube soon to see if it further reduces any drone - but I would expect (and so should you) some level of drone with the race exhaust regardless. The remaining drone is probably just a resonant frequency of the exhaust / cabin itself and there's not anything you can do about it short of a muffler or more restrictive exhaust.
...................
Got it. Yes, a Race Exhaust does add to the drone. However, I was referencing the drone caused by Sound Symposer specifically. In your case, that's impossible to isolate given your exhaust mods. Purest way to identify the Symposer impact is to have completely stock setup, which is exactly what @DIS295 did. He reported 50% or more reduction in drone. I was hoping close to 100% reduction in this stock setup. Actually, see below; the result may be close to my expectation.
Thanks again. Please check your In Box.

You may be right; what is perceived as drone might actually be the exhaust sound. It is extremely promising to know that you feel 90% of the drone is gone with windows up. It clearly indicates the Symposer was the unquestionable offender.

The male connection on the vacuum actuator is very small. I would think that you could put the appropriate size cap over that ant the male rubber tubing from the vacuum line should stretch enough to go back in place directly over that cap?
I’ll check the parts removed for size and confirm the vacuum line will go back in place with a cap in place.
@Soul Performance Hey guys, where is your kit along with VDO instructions! Seems lots of interest here! Dont let us use Bass Pro Shop parts on our Pcars!!!

Sorry my friend, we're going to need more than a couple weeks to design and source/manufacture a bespoke plug kit for the OEM piping. Expect at minimum another month for a plug kit to come full circle. For now, people can do whatever they're comfortable with using our experiment and installation guide as a guideline to a successful sound symposer delete. We'll get our kit together for you as quickly as is plausible, we do not rush
Regards,
John Gaydos
