Sad that you have to tool around in such a beautiful car with all that tape on it. :-( I'd find me some of that clear track tape and give it a crude, quick application.

Worthy of at the least a photo essay in it's namesake? I for one would love to see such a feature........

Congratulations! Sounds like a win all around, both for the first owner and for you, and it sounds like there's a decent chance we'll see each other sooner or later!

Enjoy the journey, and should your travels take you near the Golden Gate, do reach out. Might be fun to say hello, and there's another Brewster Green car here that played a small part in the story of your 718. If I'm around, I would be very happy to meet you!

Them's big words! But the pic you chose reminds me that this project exceeded our hopes, and I'm so thankful to the teams at Exclusive in Stuttgart and Atlanta who made it a reality. The pic also reminds me what got this project going in the first place: The inherent beauty and completeness of a Gentian Blue 718 Spyder on a road trip from California to Colorado back when we couldn't fly thanks to Covid. That two-seat roadster didn't need anything, and was great on small mountain passes as well as serious grand touring. The only thing we found ourselves wishing for was a full leather interior…and, if we were dreaming a little, in something other than black. Ok, and maybe a little more exhaust noise.

That 718 Spyder can be glimpsed in the video below, which is a master class in how magazine cover shoots get done by one of the very best in the business, Larry Chen.

While the stars of the shoot were the 935 and GT2 RS Clubsport, it was a 718 Spyder that helped Larry and Louis make them shine (first seen at 15:55) and it was a pair of 4.0-liter 718s that made the journey there and back again far more memorable than it might've been. It was from this lightly optioned 718 Spyder press car, somewhere in the wilds of Utah, that a text went to Stuttgart that ended up inspiring this project—so perhaps it's neat that at least one 718 Spyder with the 000 Package will be made in Gentian Blue.

Well, after waiting on an allocation for close to a year I was feeling that it's probably not going to happen, and definitely not with PTS+CXX. So when my 718 Spyder AutoTrader alert notified me of a 2022 000 Spyder, CPO with 2k miles, and almost exactly my desired spec (PTS Slate Grey, heated 18-ways, Burmester, PDLS+, and a few other goodies...only missing PCCB, which I'd not be getting now even if an allocation did come through) I jumped as fast as I think I ever have. Flew to Phoenix and signed the papers today!

A few interesting tweaks vs the base 000 build include sport seatbacks in Ascot, extended deviated stitching package in pebble grey added on the black leather, and for some reason no smoking package (I've already got the ashtray on order from Suncoast). Can't wait to get it here and get it out on the road -- already broken in for me as well

YES! Congrats!!!

Car is gorgeous. Wild to think 3 different Slate Grey Spyders with the 000 Package have now been sold within a few weeks, but I love that none of them were no-mile garage queens. Wishing you many happy miles ahead!

Very interesting indeed re: the smoking package—certainly outside the spec, but probably something that didn't feel worthwhile to flag for review. First one I've heard of, but perhaps the person really likes the cubby and I dig these detail changes between the cars.

We didn't want to get in the way of people adding more Ascot Brown or stitching, and it has been interesting to see what was ordered. Suspect that changing the stitching on the dash and center console was expensive—I recall we considered it at one point but decided to keep the upper interior in Black w/black stitching to avoid pulling the upper dash.

So fun to meet your friends today, even if only briefly!

Also neat to finally put a 718 Spyder with the CXX 000 Package alongside a 991 that was part of the preamble to these 982s—and in my old stomping grounds of Berkeley, no less. What a fun surprise for a Saturday, and my thanks to Frank at Exclusive Options for making it happen.

Thanks Pete, I'm certainly looking forward to racking up the miles. Even crazier that (at least) two of the recent Slate Grey crew are headed to the greater Bay Area. Hopefully O8X6al doesn't think I'm biting her style too hard!

I think the extra stitching was all done through configurator options (XVX, XVA) -- not cheap (especially considering it would have included extensive throwaway stitching on the seats), but not CXX-expensive. Just a great look that I'd never even considered; very impressed by whoever specced this originally (as well as by the wonderful 000 spec of course!) I very much dig the extra Ascot Brown on the seatbacks, and had actually been hoping to spec it; I'd been getting very nervous about how much it might have cost on a new allocation, with the increased material cost this year.

Too cool, congrats! Enough space around here for two. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever even seen a 718 Spyder driving around here.

Importing it will run another 10k+ and a Canadian car always had a lower value stigma when you go to resell.

Is there any reason for that, or just one of those irrational things?

Completely and utterly irrational.

The cars are built to the identical standards, the only difference is the instrument cluster in metric vs imperial. That’s it. Swapping the cluster at the dealer costs a couple thousand at most and now you can register and drive the car in the US 50 without an issue. Yes there’s some paperwork involved but it’s nothing crazy, and transport companies now exist that handle the entire process door to door, including customs brokerage.

I’ve bought and sold many cars from and to the US over the past decade.
