Official Waiting Room for 718 Spyder / GT4 / GTS Delivery...
#3992
I posted this on a dedicated maintenance thread but didn't get any responses so I figured I'd post it here. I'll hopefully be taking delivery on my GT4 in the next week or two. I was wondering if people have insight into the prepaid maintenance and tire plans. Will be driving the car in Maryland. Probably only about 3k miles per year, and probably will not be driving in any kind of bad weather. Seems from previous posts that I've read that the tire and wheel plan may not be worth it. What do people think about the different prepaid maintenance plans (+1 year, +2 years, etc)? I want to maintain the car well and will probably take it to the Porsche dealer for all of its scheduled maintenance. I imagine maintenance costs will be fairly high. The dealer has not yet given me quotes on the different plans, but I was wondering if anyone has opinions based on their experiences.

PCCB's On 2022 718 Spyder Allocation..."The Impossible Dream?"
Good Morning,
Miracle of miracles, I actually received an allocation last Friday, March 11 for a 2022 718 Spyder with a June 2022 build @ MSRP + $5K ADM. Please feel free to laugh all you want however, the build I submitted was equipped with PCCB's. The Porsche system immediately bumped my build back to "V100 - Feasibility Check Failed," apparently as a result of the PCCB's. My CBA was supposed to contact Porsche NA early this week to get additional info. While I can certainly modify my build to steel brakes, I was hoping for the PCCB's. I received the standard congratulatory e-mail from Porsche NA yesterday afternoon with a link to TYD on my "My Porsche" account, with no mention of the Feasibility Check Failure.
Has anybody had a similar experience with their Spyder build? Is Porsche rejecting Spyder builds with PCCB's altogether, or is there a possibility I can delay this allocation until PCCB's become available again? Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
My Porsche Code is PNVRAYC0.
Thank you.

Order the steels and switch them to Surface Transforms; they have a kit. Unless you gotta be OEM.
The miracle was finding $5k ADM; a unicorn indeed.

EDIT: Although, I want to ask you what you plan on doing with your Spyder. Will you ever take it to the track? If your answer is no, then the CCB's may be good idea in the idea that they will last forever. If you plan on tracking the car, then I think cost wise you are better off with using the steel brakes (and using irons on the track maybe).

I cannot agree with this more. Do this, and get your production moving my man. Remove all uncertainties that you can control.

I don't plan on tracking the car. I wanted PCCB's for their low unsprung weight, street-use-longevity and minimal brake dust...although as I understand from reading elsewhere, the new PCCB's *DO* indeed produce a somewhat nasty, sticky residue. I had PCCB's on my 991.2 911 Turbo S. They were a thing of beauty and produced almost virtually NO BRAKE DUST.

THIS! I feel equally fortunate, considering I had placed my deposit for an allocation in January of this year. I am narrowing down my color choices this week, and have locked the options.

While some of us wait for our cars to arrive and others wait for our numbers to be called, do you guys want to share your favorite videos showing the car? Personally, I have the most interest in GT4 videos (whether they are reviews or whatever), but I don't mind watching the other variants to pass the time either. I feel like I've seen everything out there, but surely you guys will humble me on that. The SavageGeese GT4 video review is probably my favorite video. They do a really great job covering the differences between the 982 and 981 (they put the damn things on lifts and show the aero differences) and also have both road and track time. Secondary shout out to Remove Before Race. His edits are second to none. I think he's a very underrated YouTuber. I linked the videos so they don't bloat the page.

I agree he is probably underrated. I used to watch some of his videos but was put off by some of the content because it was neither here nor there. Have watched more recently because he's branched out beyond MB. It is good but maybe still lacking when it comes to the driving experience from a true driver perspective (Harris, Catchpole, Metcalf, Bovington and the like).
