Yesterday TYD showed my car still sitting at the factory with an expected departure from Emden on 12/3. Today it shows my car at Emden with a departure on the SFL Conductor on 11/19. With arrival at the dealer on 12/16 instead of 12/31. Of course it might show up with comfort seats instead of CF buckets and no radio. 🤣🤣
Paid another visit to my dealership today. Finished the second round (potentially final) of configuration. Fully loaded on everything that can be loaded onto classic Porsche interior. Deleted the supplemental safety bar paint, and also removed the PEC-ATL delivery due to horror stories about how much additional delays this is adding due to the delivery due to COVID and other logistical complications. Now the real wait begins. January production / end of Feb delivery. I am looking forward to tracking the build process w/ photos in January! Still on the fence regarding the Cxx / interior carbon trim. They're asking $5500. If the aluminum bits bother me that much, I figure I'd just order the parts and have a local body shop install them at a lower cost (not sure if it will be lower or not). Anyhoo, here she is. My dream Porsche (until the GT3 allocation . I appreciate all of your good advice & good taste.
My truck dealer just informed me that my truck is being built, and will be shipped / delivered right before Christmas. A RAM 3500 limited! Until the Spyder arrives, it'll keep me busy turning it into this monster:
It's time to prep the garage. I have a Rotary lift on order to keep the Spyder above M3. Next item on the list is to procure a car hauler (staying away from enclosed ones). If anyone have a good advice for something that'll fit in a 26ft garage, and can carry up to 7K pounds please advise. I found some, but their max capacity hovers around 5k lbs. It's enough to haul the Spyder, I need something beefier that will drop down to the floor with a heavier capacity so that my SUV can also be hauled on it. I am new to the car hauler market, if anyone here has good experience with them, I'd be grateful for your advice.
Congratulations! I'll be interested in seeing your progress through the system. My original CP8.0 date was 11/12. Then, it was 11/19. Now...12/10. I don't know what my snag is, but I hope you don't have it!
damn. Well I will let you know my progress and hope it won’t be delay by much
Mine is at Emden but still hasn’t showed the ship name. I am hoping it gets on the Glovis Supreme on 11/22
I think I'm on a similar timeline as you. My production completion date was 11/12, but TYD did not update the status until yesterday. The car was actually completed on 11/11 and has been at Emden since 11/16. Good news is that my next step (On Vessel) shows that it will be on the SFL Conductor. Bad news is that the current estimated date is 12/03 and my delivery got pushed back by a week. When I look up the SFL Conductor I see that it's already at the Emden port. I'm not sure if that means it's making several trips before coming back on 12/03 or if there's a chance the car can get on this ship earlier.
Has anyone else played around with Google Maps and Earth to see what's doing at the Embden Port? It's a HUGE VW operation, complete with a racetrack! No WONDER our cars come with 15+ miles on them. This place is huge. The race track is about 1/2 mile from end to end, so the one oval lap would be about a mile, plus there's more loops. Clearly these images are pre-pandemic based on the number of cars sitting there.
After spending $140K+ on the the Spyder, my attempt to shave off couple of grand on interior trim pieces has backfired... I am now finding out that while you can change out the interior aluminum pieces (dash & center console), the door trim pieces do not come off. If you want to replace them yourself, you have to somehow procure the entire door panel in order to get the carbon on there. That's only if you can even get the door panel in carbon (they'll likely check the vin before ordering). I guess I have no choice. Dealer is asking $5500 for Cxx option to do this. For those who were thinking in the same line as I was, it may be too much trouble to approach this as a DIY. I thought I'd share.
