Curious to hear people's thoughts on painting body color the black side air ducts behind the doors.

I didn't realize until I saw them on the 718 GTS 4.0 that they are different than on the 981 GT4. Also, against the Shark Blue, they stand out more. I know they are black and there are other black accents around the car but I'm wondering if they would look better painted SB.

Thoughts?

I painted mine. They both look good to me especially from a distance, but close up, I didn't like the plastic. Once painted it gives it an aircraft intake look that I like. I ordered mine from the factory that way because it is easier to replace with black plastic ones if I didn't like it. Here is mine..sorry it's not a 4.0.

Four-O/shmore-O, it doesn't matter. It looks awesome. Thanks so much for sharing.

When I first saw the black it really stuck out and I don't love it. I even considered painting the inside part, but now that I see yours it doesn't really seem necessary.

Curious...was this an option or Special Wishes request? Cost?

Yes, it was on option on the Base, S and T not on the 4.0. I really can't understand why they don't offer it on the GTS but all an option on the other ones?

Crazily enough, I don't want anyone to say this was the reason I went with the T as some will jump on me for that but it was one of many things that I had on my list of Pros and Cons as I weighed the different variants. I had a spreadsheet, stuff like, on the S you got a white tach only, no black tach option and only red brakes, there was no option to get black calipers on the S. With the T and GT4 you got the GT4 short shifter, but not on Base, S or GTS 4.0. You got cloth inserts on the T but not on any others. The T had cool Titanium Grey wheels but not the other ones.... It was crazy how Porsche did the options.

It would be pretty simple to paint but when you paint plastic, there are some additives that are added to the paint and primer so I would have a body shop do it if you wanted to. I also agree with you, the regular 981 intake was great because it had more sheetmetal and less plastic showing. The 718 is a big piece of black plastic against a stunning silhouette.

Work truck?

2' x 2' drop tiles fit with no problems! Or at least 4 of them do.

Love the versatility... I picked someone up from Pennstation in my GT4 yesterday and the looks were hilarious loading luggage in.

It used to be an option on GTS model (2.5T) 2018 & 2019 but it was not available when the GTS 4.0 was released. I think it was around a $300 option. I personally didn’t like the big black hole in the side of the car.

EDIT: I looked it up and it was a $680 option when I bought the car.

Yes, but just to my taste they look tacky...Carbon fiber used for decoration is not my taste although very common. Don't get me wrong, if these parts were made of Iron or Lead I would get a carbon fiber version and paint to match the car. For me the appeal of carbon fiber is function, not form. When I was shopping for a carbon fiber roof M3, I wanted to the carbon roof but painted to match the car. Unfortunately they wouldn't do it. Finally, if the carbon fiber parts are less expensive than the Porsche plastic parts, then it might we worth getting a set of those and paint them to match?

Thank You, I’m about to change these to GT4 side scoops with the lettering filled in and then painted to match.

A

these are my blue - shark blue mostly- cars. The Panamera 23’ hybrid executive is in pts sapphire blue, it’s blue stitching, the blue c8 corvette is rapid blue with all red interior, the GT3 24’ is on a ship in the Atlantic - arriving end of September and has shark blue interior trim, the decals are my custom signature decal design that I have used on other shark blue models as seen in pics. This image of the GT3 is a mock up image, the 22’ GT 4 has these same decals and the interior trim and stitching is in shark blue also as does the shark blue 22’ Gts Boxster.

Latest car -23’ 911 T , is finally different than blue- wife’s insistence- rubystar Neo. Would have been a lot nicer in shark blue…..
