Picked up my first Porsche (718 Spyder) and the platform is incredible but I must say the sound leaves a lot to be desired.

I don't agree. Could it be better? Sure.

Exhaust sound is subjective certainly but compared to the other three vehicles in the garage it’s the least inspiring.

Well there are plenty of ways to change the sound, that’s one advantage of getting a car late in the run I guess - lots of feedback now on all systems.

Great. Now you have to tell us what the other three are.

Well, we might conclude that you've taken the wrong exhaust (after market) option.
I don't think that there are currently cars produced that have EU Environmental Noise Directive approval, so an after market option it must be (if allowed in your country).
Enough options available now, when you this late at the "party".

Enjoy picking one!

Glad you specified "exhaust" sound this time vs. just "sound" because I agree that the stock exhaust sound isn't great. The stock intake noise, however, is fantastic imo and up there with the induction roar of the best individual throttle bodied NA BMW M engines from years past.

Personally, I can enjoy both the sound of the air coming into the engine as much the air coming out, so the fact that the 9A2 4.0 motor has terrific induction noise and just a so-so exhaust noise isn't the end of the world. Especially since making the exhaust sound better is pretty easy on these cars.

It's been said many times before but because of the design of the stock muffler, the cars gives off a "dual 3 cylinder" exhaust tone. It's a dilemma not unlike the Dodge Viper. That car's also did not merge its exhaust gasses and you only heard the thrumming of two 5-cylinder banks to the dismay of many owners.

Luckily, on our cars, all one needs to do is go with one of the many aftermarket back boxes with an x-pipe design in the muffler which transforms the tone into a much more racey/GT3 like sound.

Many are also satisfied with just doing OAP, and I tried that step first, but all that did was make the stock tone louder. I eventually picked up a Cargraphic back box to solve it once and for all.

As a prospective buyer, if a Kline SS+Inconel "shootout" happens in the Bay Area, definitely sign me up.

If you guys can muster together a good comparison video - or just give a nice lil review of real world in person perspective I'd really appreciate it.

I just have a JCR rear and it now has that GT like sound / tone to it. It doesnt need anything else IMO it sounds flipping awesome. Not quiet, but not obnoxious. Perfect

I thought the same but now it's just not enough volume for me after a few months. Initially it was exactly what the stock sound was missing, but now that I've got 6000+ miles on it, I need a more in-your-face sound on the downshifts and above 5k rpm.
