Hey Frosty how about updating the location in your profile so we know where you are at... still no sign of C40 Mobil 1 in Victoria BC (that I am aware of).

got in , got out in 5 minutes.
Plus if something was to happen to motor, less likely imo to have warranty problems if I bought my stuff straight at the dealership where I bought my car.
Filter was 32$, gasket for oil filter casing was 19$ and oil plug was 9$.
I don’t see why your local porsche dealer wouldn’t have the oil in stock.
The parts guy knew exactly that it was the x3 c40 that was required for the gt4 2020.

I’m in Montreal. Bought the oil and filter, plug and gasket at Porsche rive sud. ( Porsche south shore) This was all in stock.

Two things:
1. Changing the oil after break in isn't going to help in any real way. It is more a theoretical idea to get rid of "break-in debris". It will not increase engine longevity by any meaningful amount. The caveat here is if you have seriously tracked your car for any amount of time, you should change the oil more frequently than every 10,000 miles or every year.
2. Following the recommended break-in in the manual is the worst thing can you can do in terms of oil consumption, as this is not the proper way to get the piston rings to properly seal. The break-in recommendation in the manual is put forth by the legal department, is completely unscientific, and is the same for every single Porsche engine, all the way from a turbo-4 to the highest revving NA motor. There is actually a very good, engineering based break-in recommend by Andreas Preuninger that is somewhere on this website, if you want to do a search. It basically involves increasing the allowable maximum revs every few hundred miles. Even within the rev limits, you should be driving at the top of the rev range.

Your 4.0 oil consumption experience.
I’ve gone through ~3/5 of a quart in the first 2100 miles. I find this perfectly acceptable especially during break-in. If anything it should improve. What have you seen? I know DI engines can vary greatly.

There are several other threads on the same topic. It seems like these engines do burn oil even after break-in, but mostly from high-RPM, high-load operation.
My GT4 seems to burn about 0.2 quarts with each track day (i.e. just under two hours of track time). I don’t notice substantial consumption outside of track days and I don’t recall seeing much of a drop before I did a break-in change at 2,000 miles.
My previous 718 Boxster S - broken in exactly the same way, and tracked just as hard - burned no oil, ever, as far as I could tell. Sold with 24,000 miles on it.

I have had my car almost exactly one year. It has 5,000 miles on it. I red line it often, and auto-crossed it once. I have not added any oil, and the level is still in the middle of the range. I’ll be getting my “free” oil change next week.
Also, I had a 981S for 8 years before my Spyder. I added one quart during the first year I had it, but I never had to add any oil between yearly changes for the following 7 years.

Sounds like our experience is very similar. My dealer told me to visit at any time for a top-off so check in with yours if nearby.

Hi RZ spyder.
I have a 2021 Spyder with 3,000 miles. Just got a oil warning. I'm down a quarter of oil. Freaked me out until I starting reading some posts and is appears to be common with our cars and the GT4.
what are you hearing?

yeah don’t worry it’s expected to eat oil. The oil consumption also depends on how frequently you rev it to higher rpms. I’ve got around 7K miles and have refilled it 3 times now.
