Cargraphic valve control unit
#31
Dont know since I havent gotten my GT4 yet! But the Soul controller is about half the price and can be installed from under the car to the vacuum lines but you need to tap into a power source. There are install videos of that process. Soul also shows how to sync remote. I will probably pay the $399 and do the Cargraphic, but only after I plug the lines with 6MM screws ($5)to keep the valves open and see how I like the sound 100% open all the time. If I like that way Ill just keep them open and save myself the money!

EDIT: Update, where I say 'cutting into' I should have said 'tapping into' the Soul kit contains the necessary fittings. Also the reference to ECU hacking was not for the Soul Valve controller it was referring the other posts about modifying the ECU to override valve control .

Ordered mine from Supreme Power yesterday, they apparently only offer 2 Mode model.
Asked about the Akrapovic unit since they are an authorized dealer. They said they have not sold one yet.

If you have to cut or solder anything, it’s the wrong option... which is why the cargraphic is properly the best option on the market IMO... completely reversible.
It’s this or just disconnect the vacuum lines.

If you just disconnect the valve, would that cause an ecu issues? I ask because I asked a Porsche specialist shop in SoCal if they could do that and they said they could — but anticipated ecu problems. They also said, however, that a cargraphic module would not cause such issues. Can’t understand why and he wasn’t that good at explaining the reason. He also said installation of the car graphic was a 3 hour job. I’ve seen online people do it at home in about an hour.

is actuating the engine vacuum in order to open/close the valves, it does not know that the valves "are not there anymore" ...
The only way that I can foresee/imagine any such ECU codes would be if the post cat sensors detected some change in backpressure etc as a result of the valve position being "incorrect" ...
This seems highly unlikely to me, but then I'm not an ECU expert... YMMV
p.s but you must plug the vacuum hoses from the engine!

Where did they put the controller and did they simply pinch the electric connections between the engine cover and body?

"The Last Mile" of the exhaust valve system is entirely mechanical, the vacuum lines to the valves themselves, so its unlikely that would result in any direct ECU issues, after all, all that the electronic control systems are doing

Thank you all for the responses. I have the Akra OAP pipes in the group buy but am wary that it’ll be longer than expected to receive them. Trying to figure out a temporary solution to the sound. Took the car on Sunset Blvd early yesterday and it is by far the best car I’ve ever had. It handles like my old exige but with 400+ horsepower and plush interior. And the sound is good, real good. But not clinch your teeth good. My last few cars were — and far cheaper (Exige and 981 GTS). Not Porsche’s fault from what I see. Ferrari seems to be having similar issues and so does Mercedes (new amg black series apparently sounds bad). But this issue needs to be fixed imo. The JCR is the best I’ve heard so far but that’s on a video and super expensive. I don’t want it obnoxious.

If you are in the group buy already then I would think that no matter what else you order from an exhaust standpoint the Akra OAP will likely be in your hands before anything else might arrive... but Supreme Power can supply the Cargraphic Controller and from those who have installed it they say it does wonders for the sound, so why not do this and then wait for the OAP and see if you need more?
