Ugh. Found it. I wasn't aware of Auto Blip button in GT4 (and Spyder, I suppose)....

The GT cars have the console button, GTS mandates auto rev match in certain modes

The auto blip can be turned off in the 718 GT4 independent of anything else. My understanding is that it can't be turned off in the 718 GTS in the sport and sport+ modes. That's my vague recollection, and I might be wrong about it.

God bless,
TT

Yes, my other Porsche (other than a 718 GT4) is a 991.2 C2 with 7MT. I specifically did not get it with Sport Chrono so I had no auto-blip, even in Sport mode. I had to give up having a Sport+ mode.

God bless,

in a gt4, auto blip is off unless you turn it on. It only rev matches down shifts. It’s actually quite nice. It also kicks in at the gate, before you engage the gear so if it spikes to the redline that might be a strong hint you shouldn’t let off the clutch pedal ….

You are correct, Alex. I misstated how auto-blip works in my post above. Another example of how words matter!

No graunches/grinds in the last several hundred miles with many 1>2 shifts at relatively high--and increasing every 100 miles--rpms.

God bless,
TT

I have been getting the 1-2 grinds pretty much every other time I drive the car since new. I am currently at 880 miles and Ive pretty much lost count of how many times I felt the "grunch". The frequency seems to be decreasing but not by much. It happens even when I granny shift

Hoping it goes away with mileage. My plan is to take it in to dealer at around 1k to have them take a look. Did not experience this issue with my 981 GT4 at all. It's pretty much the same transmission as the 981 gt4 no?

I began getting the 1-2 crunch in my Spyder at around 500 miles as I started to push the RPM above 5K. I'm now at 1200 miles and it's just about gone away. The service manager at my local Porsche dealer thinks it may be air in the hydraulic clutch. It might be worth asking the dealer to bleed it.

That's not normal. I'd have the dealer take a look, change fluid, etc.

Happened to me in my 718S when I first got it. I felt it was a little clunky, but it smoothed out after about 1k miles. During that time, I was just very careful with changing gears.

Hello from Georgia. Reporting the grind in my 2021 Spyder. I've been driving manuals all my life so it's not user error for anyone who is even a decent driver. I've experienced the grind a handful of times in 1600 miles and as the miles increase, it appears to be diminishing. It first happened around 700 miles and then once every couple hundred miles thereafter but always below 5k rpm.The most recent grind occurred when I was making a left turn through an intersection and I swear I inadvertently pulled "in" (sightly) left on the shifter as I shifted into second midway through the turn. My two cents is that there is something happening when one isn't hitting the dead center of the gate....

It's happened to me four times in my 2020 GT4. Hope it goes away. Sounds godawful when it happens.

I would agree with this, I had it happen a few times early on then it went away, but it's done it 4-5 times in the last few days (at around 2500 miles). I did notice the slight inward angle may be an issue when it used to happen, I don't recall what I was doing the past few days as I forgot all about it but this note reminded me of noticing that so I'll pay more attention if it reoccurs.

Makes one wonder if this is something misadjusted in the shifter linkage.

By why would it get bettter/go away instead of getting worse over time?
