If you have expectations of little to no drone, you probably shouldn't be messing with the exhaust at all.
How does one change a component to make something louder but then complain about it? I question why they even bother owning a car like this, let alone modifying it to be louder.

................ The symposer valve should be closed a lot of the time anyway but that hasn't stopped people from complaining about drone in low RPM scenarios with aftermarket exhausts. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't this brought up with someone who was testing drone by revving the car in neutral? There wouldn't be much drone anyway with no load.

I had Soul OAP's and value controller installed on my CGTS 4.0 on Friday. First impression? Well, some background first. I traded my 981 CS on the new CGTS 4.0. I was running Fabspeed sport headers and their Valvetronic exhaust. Wanna talk about LOUD when the valves were open... that car screamed. It also had a significant amount of drone, but I lived with it because the car sounded glorious. The wife, however, was not as enthused as I was... she thought it was obnoxious.
The CGTS 4.0 with the Soul modifications is very different. First, with valves open the sound pitch is much lower than my modified CS. Its a lower, rumbly growl that gets louder and higher pitched as you open up the throttle. It sounds both sporty and aggressive. Second, the volume is not nearly as loud as my CS was, but it is significantly louder than stock... removing the particulate filters brings the exhaust to life. I had my friend drive my car at about 50 mph while I stood along the side of the road. It was noticeably louder than other cars that drove by. I was impressed with the volume... and it also got my wife's begrudging approval. Lastly, I know folks are concerned about drone. I get it. I lived with drone in my CS for 4 years. IMO, this Soul set up does not have significant, if any, noticeable drone. The sound in the cabin is louder and lower, but it did not resonate.
Looking for a real increase in exhaust note quality and volume without being obnoxious or having to live with annoying drone? This Soul set up is a great option. You can always do more later if you want a different exhaust note or more volume... but this is a good first step.

Great testimonial. So did you do the valve controller method #1, where the valves are always open, or in stock configuration? My OAP pipes and controller are going on Tues.

Yep. I did method 1. I have the 2 key fobs and I have it synched with my Homelink buttons. Good luck on Tuesday!

Took a group ride with a few friends today, and traded cars with a couple of them during the drive. They were telling me how great my car sounded from their cars, and said they should do a "drive-by" so I could hear what it sounds like from outside of the car. I've got the Soul over-axle pipes with everything else stock - except for some lovely Soul tips I added as well. So, we pulled over at one point along the route, and one of the guys did a couple of passes so I could hear it. I shouted "Are you kidding me??!!" It sounded so fantastic! Just perfect, to my ears. I knew it was nice from inside the car, but from the outside - holy crap! Just what I wanted. Like a refined race car. Badass, but not obnoxious. Thank you, John and the rest of Team Soul!
I took a pic of my buddy on one of the passes:

That inspired me to do a similar thing with the drive-by and listening to the car from the outside. I have a 2021 GTS 4.0 Manual, with the Soul OAPs and the Valve Controller. (Valved Exhaust on order!) I had my Son do some drive-by's. He didn't take it into high rpms, but even with some moderately aggressive driving I was amazed and impressed how good it sounded outside the car. Better than I thought it would! It sounds great inside the car while driving, but wow it sounds amazing driving by.
I suspected it would be louder than it sounds inside the car, and I was right. Under heavy throttle, it is pretty loud. It made me rethink where and when I have the valves open, and since then I have been more cautious about having the valves open and ripping into higher rpms in first and second gear. I drive on IL country roads, but there are areas where there are more homes and neighborhoods that I should probably keep the valves closed when driving in a spirited fashion through and past, and open them up more so in areas with much less home density, and in areas in the Suburbian shopping areas where I don't want to draw unnecessary attention from Law Enforcement. Great to have that control over that with the Valve Controller, and programmed into the Homelink buttons for easy access!
I also had my Son do some drive-by's with the valves fully closed. I was surprised how loud it was with the valves closed also. North of 5000 RPMs with the valves closed, even more sound got out and there was an occasional burble or crack (in Sport Mode on the Sport Chrono, which is where I always have it). Still much quieter, it sounded decent, but nowhere near as awesome as with Valves open, obviously.
This brings up another point that I discussed with John Gaydos - I think with the Soul OAPs and Valves closed, the sound inside the car is still improved from stock. It sounds more mechanical and Motorsporty. He said the sound inside the car improves even more with Valves closed with their Valved Exhaust (which per the above comment, I now have on order). Of course there is the concern of the drone from 2000-2800 RPMs with the combination of the OAPs and the Valved Exhaust, but we seem to be learning more here about reducing that by blocking the Sound Symposer. By the time my exhaust comes in, we will likely have some more progress that and feedback from John and team on that.

I unplugged my valves (on the Soul valved exhaust) this weekend. I have the OAPs and the valved exhaust and with the PSE valves operational, it's just too quiet for me with valves closed. With the valves open, the sound is greatly improved although there is a small window of boomy resonance right around 2600-2800. To me, it is more pronounced on deceleration when the engine isn't under load. At this point it's doesn't bother me enough to worry about plugging the valves back in. Huge improvement over stock, but I think I can still stand to hear more so I'm interested in hearing from someone with real world experience that has OAPs, valved exhaust, and street headers.

Hoping to install my Valved rear section this weekend... depends on UPS though.
Actually it will be new exhaust, oil change and Valve controller to be done this weekend.

are you just doing the rear section and controller, or OAP’s too?…. I haven’t found many people just running a new rear section

I have the rear section on order, my Spyder currently has the Soul Valve controller installed as well as a gutted filter in the OAP (aka Big Genitalia mod). If that doesn’t suit me I’ll add the street cat headers from Soul next.

Hi Merlotsj ! This is the exact set-up i want (Solul valve controller and gpf gutted). Are you satisfied? Any problems? Could it be a permanent set-up? How is your feeling about torque and hp? Thank you.
