First off, WOW what a difference! Sound is amazing and makes the car so much more fun, even just cruising around town. Definitely louder but what I love the most is the higher pitch scream that reminds me more of a 991.1 and 991.2 GT3...not quite there of course but definitely a step in the right direction. Gives the car much more attitude and I find myself driving way more aggressively. Proper GT sound and, from what I can tell, a slight improvement in performance. Thank you John. Great work.

Now, there are a few small drawbacks to note but, for me, they are worth the price of admission. First off, there is definitely a drone at 2K to about 2.7K RPM when getting on the gas. If you are very sensitive to drone, be warned it's there. One thing to note, there is much less drone with the top down. Another draw back is the install....it's nothing too difficult but it is time consuming since you have to jack up the car to get underneath access and also have to take the rear wheels off to be able to get easy access to the bolts to the header/link pipes. Lots of bolts, nuts, and screws to deal with. Having a quickjack would have definitely helped to speed things along. Conventional jack and jack stands were a pain to set up properly.

In summary, I'm happy with the exhaust as it definitely adds more fun to the experience....especially with the top down. Great value at $2500 when compared to other alternatives.
Thanks for the info....I think this is probably the best bang-for-your-buck out there in terms of exhaust systems.
Also, if you plan to replace the rear silencer and mid-pipes why not go for a proper system which takes out the Y connector and overly complicated dual route tubing for the rear silencer.
Weight reduction is also a nice benefit with this system.
So even with resonators you still have the drone......I had a GT3 race exhaust conversion (no valves) on my 981 GT4 and it was loud and had the same drone you are describing.
But the sound was so intoxicating that I never mind. If this system with resonators has a little bit less drone that on my 981 then I will be Very happy.

How loud would you say it is in "city driving". I understand it's meant to be a louder exhaust, but I'm wondering if it's possible to drive in a way that still makes it seem somewhat civilized.
Did you try any highway cruising? Is it obnoxious there too?

Thanks!

How loud are cold starts for the race system and the coming valved exhaust?

I want to change out the stock system but not wake up the entire neighbourhood starting up the car at night

@ Soul and others who have installed Over Axle Pipes, what is the best approach for installation? Any tips? Any mistakes to avoid?
thanks 🙏

This is a complete system....besides the rear silencer it replaces the over axle pipes with a single tube one with 2.5" dia.

Not obnoxious on highway or city driving. Louder, yes but obnoxious no.

lift car, remove rear wheels, undo 3 nuts in front and backoff the 5 studs on the OEM GPF filter, take off, reverse order for install. Quite straight forward.

to remove stud use the double nut method. I had 1 broken strud and 1 stubborn stud (the last one as always!) and I had to loosen exhaut to remove GPF. Other option is to loosen exhaust right away and skip the stud removal step. In retrospect I should have done that. There is 4 horizontal reverse torx screw holding exhaust to frame and 2 vertical studs also. Just remove the 4 horizontal screw. Exhaust will still be supported by vertical studs, then you can rotate exhaust to clear the studs. Well worth it!

Hey Guys!

Sorry for the brief hiatus, I was on a light vacation and have been playing some catch up in the office. I want to give you all a huge THANK YOU for your continued support and posting your feedback of our products. As a small company we are very fortunate to be thriving through this Covid mess, we have a great group of very passionate people working here and we owe our livelihoods to our customers. If any of you are local to the NY/NJ/PA are (or would be willing to make the drive) please stay in touch and keep an eye on our email updates. If the remainder of the year goes well, we are planning some interesting perks for SOUL customers next year

So far we have three cars running them with no CELs using standard O2 spacers. However, we do not expect this to last as these cars are more sensitive then most. The only conclusive way to turn off the CEL permanently running catless is to tune the car and shut off the emissions monitoring system, which we can do with a bench flash now.

The valves closed flowpath will utilize a bespoke, low profile muffler we've designed specifically for this platform to fit over the rear diffuser. Internally the muffler will have an x-pipe to smooth out the tone as well. The valves open flow path will bypass the muffler and be very similar to our Race Exhaust with a blended x-pipe design. Two prototype mufflers made to our specifications have now arrived to our facility and we will be beginning development of this final version of our valved exhaust development in October. Thanks for the inquiry! We'll at least get some photos of the mufflers we designed up in the next couple weeks so you can check them out.

You should definitely get them before you get the car, be as proactive as you can with current lead times on fabrication. That way you are moving through the queue and you may have them on hand for when the car arrives. If it turns out you don't want them for some reason (I would be shocked, noone I've spoken to likes the stock exhaust so far), we have no cancelation fees and we would be happy to have you send them back for a full refund and pass them along to the next fellow in line for one : )

Excellent feedback Dennis thanks so much for posting your feedback! Having not driven that particular combination on a Spyder yet, it's nice to hear the top down makes a notable difference in cabin presence as we expected.

Thanks for the kind words! For your reference, I would be quite shocked if the Resonated Race Exhaust on this new 718 had more cabin presence than a GT3 style race exhaust on the previous 981. Which setup were you running? Either way, give ours a try and if you don't like it...send it on back

The Race Exhaust in particular comes with it's own over axle pipes deleting the OEM particulate filters.

It's loud. How loud? No real way to answer that, sound is too subjective and so is decibel testing as there are no standardized equipment or testing variables. That said, the Rcae Exhaust will be Much louder as it also deletes the particulate filters. The upcoming Valved Exhaust to replace the PSE muffler will be similar to stock as long as you keep the particulate filters. However, if you delete the particulate filters as well by combining our Valved Exhaust with our Competition Over Axle Pipes, the cold start will be very close to that of the Race Exhaust. You'll probably want to start with our Competition Over Axle Pipes with your factory PSE mufflers, and use that as the basic foundation to build on if you want more. There's also little DIY projects to cut down on cold start sounds if you want to chat about them. Give me a ring at 4848836197 any time and we can get a bit more in depth about it.

Hi John....I had the Cargraphics race headers with a TPC GT3 conversion without the valves, just using the lower muffler path like the cup cars....the sound was just awesome, specially at the track!
My idea is to do the full exhaust but my car wont be here until January.

Was the top entry of the muffler completely capped off as well? Zero flow into the top and 100% into the bottom? If so, race headers with GT3 conversion running like that is a pretty darn aggressive setup my friend, and one I've been fond of haha. I would expect our setup on this new car to be comparable in regards to cabin presence, and higher pitched/more aggressive at full rip. Sound is pretty subjective, so the only way you'll know for sure is of course to try it haha.

John

Yes, this is an exhaust development thread, and we plan to keep to relevant conversation as much as possible. However, every now and then we come across companies that make exceptional products that enhance the driving experience that meet our standards. We love adding them to our website as compliments to our exhaust products.

Yesterday was one of those days, when we received our first set of RSNV Wing Risers for the 981/718 GT4. Take a look at the packaging, product, and the included tools/installation guide. What a remarkable presentation, the thought that went into these is superb. Kudos where it is due, RSNV knocked it out of the park and you guys deserve to know about it. We now have these available on our website for purchase if you'd like to pick up a set.

Regards,
John

Everything included in the box, wonderfully labeled and packaged

Excellent install instructions!
