I don't see it that way. They produced a F4 for China and made it available worldwide. Some guys in Europe and North America prefer the traditional six. Porsche now offers both. I have a 2019 GTS and I really don't care that a six has replaced it.

You bet! In the brief period of my ownership of 718bgts, I put a set of hat/glove in the car & open the top as long as it doesn't rain/snow in PNW Jan/Feb weather

All that seems highly unlikely. By "outrun" I suspect you are banking on PDK vs MT but if Spyder GT4 gets PDK (and isn't choked down to honor the hierarchy) then zero chance of that. Everyone is assuming 85k base price but it could be higher than that easily.

There's no way they'll offer a GT,jr car that spanks the GT4/Spyder.

It doesn’t have to “outrun” the Spyder, nor does it have to be a “GTjr”. This branding, marketing game is getting tiresome. Just give the best Boxster an auto-top option, for crying out loud.

There’s no reason for the best Boxster to only come with a manual top, just like there’s no reason for the GT3 to only come with a wing. The Tourings are selling at 20k+ premiums vs their winged GT3 counterparts, even though I’m sure the winged are couple sec faster on the N-ring.

MT vs MT, I'm talking about 981 spyder. Sure they wouldn't let it out run the 718 spyder given the hierarchy. But if this new GTS has around 400 horse with improved low/mid range torq from the new motor, yes it'll out run the 380ish 981 spyder. And given how bad the 2.5T gts sales going with current MSRP I don't see they would bump up the MSRP significantly just because it has a F6 motor

I see what you mean overall. As far as the price though, I think the market is what it is because of the 4 vs 6, TT vs NA issue. Change it to an NA 6 and that alone would give it a nice premium over the existing GTS. If that becomes the new GTS I'd think sales for that model would increase but who knows.

Maybe Porsche is trying to stem the precipitous drop of mid-engine model sales since the turbo models were launched. The 4.0 will get some publicity helping all 718's sell. Then the electric models will replace the internal combustion models completely.

Yes I know. I'm saying Porsche is done with the 718 Spyder design so you're not going to get what you're asking for.

Haha yeah that'll set new records around the Virtüring but will crater sales and cause petro versions to skyrocket in value.

have you ever purchased a Porsche? Lol. Porsche has never offered more for less. They give away nothing. If the engine is “improved “, you will be paying for that improvement. About the only freebies you can count on is a cigarette lighter and a small net in the passenger compartment.

Agree. They have to recoup the development cost of that 4.0 flat six engine that has cylinder deactivation. How about that for sound enhancement!

Porsche is a business. Even if they found a way to cut costs appreciably, they're still going to charge you more for it. They count heavily on those who always chase the latest and greatest.
