I completely agree with you. 100%. But my personal interest in sports cars has really changed. I used to love the idea of owning one for the pleasure of driving on public roads, but that has faded as you're never reall my able to enjoy them properly, and if you are you're going too fast. So now I really like going to the track but I don't have space for a trailer etc, so I need the best compromise for a track weapon which is tolerable on road. To that end, it's just the mechanics of it which interest me now, and I can't think of a more interesting car available now in the $100k-$300k region than the upcoming Z06. Where else can you get a 5.5L or similar flat crank V8??.. its never been done before. This is a true descendant of the c8r race car so it could look like a Pontiac Aztec for all I care.

Maybe you should look into a Radical RXC.....

Let me know when you come down to Buttonwillow. Hopefully having a PTS GT4 and a good relationship with North Houston will given me enough juice to get an early GT4RS allocation.

I will!

Also, Hypercar Invitational 3 is scheduled for may 8-9 at Laguna, and you can bid for charity laps with Randy Pobst in Crazy cars like a Porsche 962 or hypercars etc.. Martin's got the $$$$... bring it baby!!!

Do it! You've done the Porsche thing, might as well try something new. Plus, it's one of the unique advantages of living in America, you can buy a Porsche in many countries but a z06 or hellcat? Not so much 😁

I'm not giving you my GT4rs allocation... nice try buddy. Saw riiiiiight through that one.

But seriously... you balance the sheer intrigue of the monster power and novelty of the c8 z06, with the sheer beauty and exceptional known quantity of this beauty's upcoming more powerful sibling... tough call.Name: photo823.jpg

I agree. The Z06 should be an eye opener.

hi chris, which engine details you expect?

Chris3963 - what's the latest score on emission rules in the EU and how do you see that affecting 992 GT3RS onwards na & turbo cars?

I've listened to all the footage out there of the RS mules on the Nordschleife and none sound like they have the GT3 engine - and I'm taking note of the 992 GT3 mules in particular as that's the most relevant in terms of emissions/sound influencing stuff. The GT4 RS do sound like they rev a higher than the regular GT4 in similar shots.

Since I assume quite a few of us are cross-shopping $130k track-focused mid-engine cars....

Here are some excellent renders of the Z06.. a bit spaceship, a bit manga... but if the performance and engine are an improvement on the base car... so compelling as the track slayer to beat them all.

If the GT4 RS had a GT3 engine, you would not recognise the sound anyway because the sound you hear from a GT3 is NOT the engine. It’s the sound made by the centre mounted merged exhaust. A GT4/RS/spyder sounds nothing like the GT3 because it has a split exhaust that does not merge so you are effectively hearing 2 x 2.0l 3 cyl engines. All the aftermarket exhaust companies are trying to build merged exhausts for the GT4 in order to get a GT3 like sound with varying degrees of success. They would get closer if they could also centre the exhaust but the current diffuser layout doesn’t allow that to do that.

Anyway, just because the GT4 RS running around the ring sounds nothing like a GT3 doesn’t necessarily mean it does ( or does not) have a GT3 engine.

Around 18 months ago I posted that a GT4 RS was coming and that it would have in the vicinity of 475hp. I see no reason to change that at the moment.
