As a 'groundhog' update, my dealer says Porsche HAS completed handing out all the new allocations for August (or course that means later build dates than August).
Next 'sports car' allocations are expected to US dealers in October.
Hope some of you on 'lists' got some calls in the last week; otherwise, 8 more weeks of wait-and-see winter.

Wishful thinking. Definitely not a different market for this car. As you said, there are many people looking for Spyder allocations and not many of them to go around.

You may have better info, but my suspicion is 2023 is going to be the last year for the 718 GT4/Spyder. They have never done longer than a 3 year run for any GT car, so this fourth year of the current GT4 is already an anomaly. We are seeing a lot of options become unavailable, which is suggestive that Porsche is not focused on long term 718 production. Finally, allocations as of late have been pretty scarce. Maybe things will turn around and they'll pump them out, but it seems like we are seeing the end of the run here. Just my 2 cents.

@rusmani - Thank you for sharing! A few follow up questions if you can opine...
1. Since you suspect MY23 to be the last of the Spyder / GT4, do you also lump GTS 4.0 into that bucket?
2. After this generation run, are we expecting full EV for the 718s? I did read previously that was the case, but this platform seems like a cash cow, why not extend it a bit longer? Or the converse, if the 718s are not a priority in the lineup, just keep extending the lifecycle. Even in the Macan range where we know EV Macans are coming for MY24, Porsche is still building ICE alongside it
3. Missing options at the end of the lifecycle seems strange, I don't recall the inability to get certain options when the 991 generation went to .2 and when it ceased all together with the 992s. Is this a truly end of life, or just merely shortages with Porsche prioritizing components for their other models? (My guess is the latter with 911s still having LEDs and with the Australia market having PDLS+ as standard equipment. I am at a loss why we lost yellow stitching other than the fact that Porsche may want people to pick the deviated stitching option, instead at a discount)
I understand no one knows the future Porsche roadmap, other than Porsche themselves. But always interesting to hear some educated guesses.

The 718 is not a “cash cow”; it’s at the bottom of the PAG sales charts.
It shares the line at Zuff, which means less 911s are produced—which is a cash cow. Probably why they are off-loading more 718s to Osnabrucke.
PAG recently stated that something like 70% of profits will come from EV sales by 2030.
Euro 7 emissions requirements coming.
Good news is that plenty of 718s will be produced.

1) I think MY24 will continue the GTS 4.0 in fairly limited production, with emphasis placed on the GT4RS and possible Spyder RS.
2) Porsche has said their plan is to unveil the EV 718 for MY25. I'm sure this could be delayed due to the impending software issues that are being discussed. Nonetheless, I'm sure Porsche is focusing tons of R&D into the upcoming EV Boxster/Cayman, which will probably affect current/future 718 production.
3) My suspicion is the missing options are due to supply chain issues that didn't exist previously. I think as you mentioned, Porsche is prioritizing options for other markets and models. But I think the fact that multiple options have disappeared from the GT4/Spyder with no apparent return in sight is suggestive that those models will not be of priority in the future.
The overflow plant for 718 production is tough to get a read on. My hunch is that it will be used for some current 718 production and also the EV boxster/cayman that is slated for mid 2020s. The article above alludes to that. Not sure if the overflow plant will really help with short term 718 GT4/Spyder production since it's not expected to start until mid 2023. Maybe someone with more insight can chime in?

PAG has repeatedly stated publicly that the 718 Follow-on will be EV only and will be a MY25. The 982/981 lines have been in production since MY12.

Just curious what makes you think that "plenty of 718s will be produced"? Plenty is a subjective term, but I don't think Porsche is building enough 718s (base, S, GTS, GT4/Spyder) to quench demand. Most dealer lists for these cars are quite long, as some dealers have closed their lists. And per this thread, allocations have been pretty scarce in the last few months/rounds.

Yes, if looking for any new 718 allocations now, including base, it’s tough. My dealer has 15 waiting for base cars and doesn’t take GT4/Spyder interest anymore.
In the end more 718s (including GT4/Spyder) than 987/81 generations will make it stateside. Don’t know about the GT4, but more Spyders have arrived than in previous gens…probably by a wide margin.
Plus the 4.0 GTS and RS cars.
If you want one they will be available.
While allocations are hard, plenty on here still report securing them.
