My local dealer is Penske owned ( not where I purchased my 981 GT4 from) and while they were willing to sell me a 718 GT4 at MSRP, I would also have had to sign up for about $20k of overpriced dealer "products"l coatings, lo jack, etc...

This was over the summer, and I am not high up on their preferred customer list.

Wow, that's not cool. Might have to look out of state.

Shouldn't have to go that far, Porsche Marin and Porsche Burlingame in the Bay Area were willing to do MSRP and no nonsense.

Good to know, thanks! Guess I need to just start about an hour North of me making calls to dealers and then work my way up, further and further. Happy to take a drive or even ship something if it means I'm saving $20K-$25K.

Whoops, it was someone else asking about SoCal dealers. Sorry :-)

I was able to get MSRP from a SoCal dealer. You can negotiate with these dealers as well. I negotiated at multiple dealers, and was finally able to find one willing to go with MSRP.

Weird, I'm at that same dealer (Tysons) and I wasn't asked to sign up for any of that. I joined their list relatively late around the week they first announced the 718 GT4 back in June, but that might've been early enough before they started playing games with their remaining potential allocations? I was simply told the deposit was "non-refundable" and that I should sign up ASAP so they could comfortably say I had a good chance at getting a car. The sales manager wouldn't tell me where on the list I was placed however at the time. I've never bought a car from them either but have been in touch with a SA there for years.

When it comes time to buy I bet their song and dance will change to "these are the mandatory options". There are dealers out there that do this. Get the traffic in the door and bait and switch later. Non refundable so what are you going to do? Pass and buy something else? Shady.

Very interesting. I had a deposit with them before I found my current car, but it was refundable and I had no issue getting it back. I wonder if they changed tactics.

I don’t know where Tysons is, but in CA, all deposits are refundable per state law.

No one should pay over MSRP, there will be more 718 GT4s than 918 GT4s so just be patient. I passed on an allocation for a manual GT4 earlier this fall as I'm waiting for a PDK GT4 or the GT4RS.
