982 GT4 Spyder?

So, the 3.8L engine would be a carryover from the 981, with the gt4 and spyder being the only ones using it? Would it still meet emissons and/or need a particulate filter?

Yes to everything. One thing people forget is the fact that Porsche operates on a build to order model. They do not have a warehouse of parts.

People who've seen it have said it's NOT the 4.0 liter from the .2 GT3, detuned or otherwise. Indications are it's based on the old 3.8L, maybe punched out to 4L. Been discussed ad naseum on the GT4 thread.

Could be the angle of those pics, but the rear decklid/streamliners look different than the 981. The look a bit flatter and slightly more squared off on the sides to me.
I may be in the minority, but I don't like the GT4 wheels on the Spyder. Never loved them on the GT4 but I particularly don't like them on the Spyder. Different wheels and tone down the rear splitter a tad and it would be the best looking 718 model out there.

I agree with you on the wheels.

I don’t think these GT4 wheels will make it into the production version of the Spyder. History tells us that the Spyder always wears a unique set of wheels specially made for it. I hope that’s the case in the end.

Primary difference is the rear lights and bumper which are a carryover from the 718 and modified to suit the Spyder. Rear fenders may have a slightly larger crease near the trunk too which again is likely a carryover from the 718.
