Default Porsche Confirms End of ICE For Cayman/Boxter

There's been rumblings but sounds like a pretty clear confirmation

Yep, that makes it pretty formal, I'd say. The question now is for how long will Porsche keep making replacement parts. I think the law requires 10 years, so we'd be covered until 2035. Guess at some point in the not-too-distant future, ICE vehicles will be total losses, no? Nobody will buy them anymore.

EV is not the future. This will end badly for Porsche. ICE is here to stay for the foreseeable future. Especially with synthetic fuels becoming more economically viable and hybrids being absolutely superior to EV.

718 has had a good run. There will be donor vehicles long after 2035, and Porsche will still be around too. Past 10 years out is impossible to say. A lot of ice vehicles will be grandfathered in, so demand for “classics” in an age of Bev or mandatory hybrid may balance out. I wouldn’t worry. Were you even really going to keep it 10 more years ?

depends on the OEM. Most third party manufacturers I work with have to warehouse things like interior trim pieces and the like have to keep them for 7-8 years.

You can still get parts for cars built 50 years ago, so I wouldn’t be too worried.

Thanks guys. Hey, if the exhaust craps out in the future, we could always install the one below. Ha ha. It's probably the only one that I've heard that sounds better than stock PSE. Wonder what's the weight savings.

The barrage of articles yesterday were the first clear answer I've heard from an actual corporate Porsche employee.

I was just about to say. There are plenty of aftermarket companies making nearly every single part to rebuild 70's muscle cars to better than OEM standards from almost nothing. So long as there is enough demand, someone will make it a business to meet it.

You do realize EVs have a lot of benefits right? While I like my sports cars to burn dinosaurs I totally understand the appeal of an EV sports car. My DD is an EV and it's a fantastic EV, a sports car could also be fantastic. I just want my weekend ride to feature explosions and noise. Garbage, however, they are not.
