that’s the thing. When would someone use an EV 718?
It expected to have modest range due to keeping weight down. So can’t drive it far. Can’t track it at many tracks as you just posted. Can’t do a mountain drive for fun due to limited rang/issues getting home. Will likely depreciate hard like a Taycan. It doesn't have the practicality of a Tesa M3P for cargo, passengers, and ease of charging.

I guess you could daily drive one in a major city with home charging. Could also lease via business which takes some of the sting out of depreciation.

But again it seems an electric 718 has a much more narrow use than ICE 718s, so I don’t expect sales to be good after the first 1-2 years (once the novelty buyers and early adapters get their cars).

Perhaps they recognized that people are not as willing to pay close to $120K for a Cayman GTS (I last specced it out few months ago at $117K).
My build came out to almost $3,000 more in 2025 than 2024. I have a 718 S MT being built.

makes sense if manual. PDK is now standard so it saves a bit of money.

It is kind of unusual though because there was directives to try to sell the MT. If trying to sell the MT why cut the price on the PDK? I'm not sure if the MT was the only price difference on my build because I think the Chrono package now comes with the MT so I should have saved some money there.

That's ok, my 22 GT4 build cost is almost identical to a GTS build today for MSRP (couple G cheaper), but when you factor in taxes my GT4 new cost me significantly less than a GTS does today after tax. Then for those financing... my god. its over 9% now for interest.

yeah, I don’t know. They just made PDK and a few other things standard.

that’s the problem I have with going with a GTS 4.0 now. I simply cannot justify the cost at almost $120K for a non-GT car. Just seems crazy to me considering Spyder and GT4 were around that price or less.

Guys, I'm not a mod, but let's stop this tangent of the discussion right now. Not helpful. Whatever side of the US political aisle you're on, there's no need to be divisive. Let's talk cars.

I think the word that Porsche AG would like you to use is more muscular . It does look chunkier from the back because it pulled the rear deck lid up and there is now a rear charge port in the middle that may be lifting the rear higher. Also, do not forget that there is still camo on the car and the bumper looks like it contains a lot of sensors, so that often can change the visual impact.

Here is the front view of the test mule; again, it has still camo on it:

What are you talking about? The last dozen posts are about cars not politics. Some posts were about the cost.

Not sure what is political on this thread unless you’re the kind of person that makes everything political.

Lighten up Francis. The two posts that prompted mine are gone. One distinctly pro one candidate mentioning him by name as able to 'save' us from EVs . One for the other party without mentioning candidate by name but quite clear in intent. Both were simplistic and ill informed. I'm glad the thread got cleaned up. You're way off base making assumptions about me politicizing things - quite the opposite - I was trying to get us back to cars. Looks like the powers that be agreed and cleaned it up.
