Yup. Have one. It’s awful.

You can feel exactly what each wheel is doing and every variation of pavement. The ability to place any wheel within a 1/2” of exactly where you want it gets so old.

The 18-way seats offer no opportunity to burn calories looking for a more comfortable position.

The sport-tex interior grips you like a Venus Flytrap.

It’s a dangerous street legal go-kart car that places your license in jeopardy because it compels you to take corners, entrance and exit ramps as fast as possible.

And mine looks like albino poop with a stripe.

The T is awesome. If you are looking for a go-kart. I probably wouldn’t want SPASM on a daily driver in the Northeast: the roads suck. Outside of that, the $/fun ratio can’t be beat in any other Porsche.

Hot off the press, just watched it this morning. Other T reviews available on YouTube. I'm not a T owner (2018 CS), but this seemed like a balanced review.

Good video. Best line: “If you’re not Nick Murry, Porsches are very reliable.”

Topic of “To T or not” has been endlessly debated. Plenty of threads here and other places that cover that.

I cross-shopped a 4.0 GTS and picked the T and then loaded it into ludicrous option land. I enjoy driving it more than I do the wife’s 991S MT. And it’s better/faster/quicker/more-fun than her former 981CS.

Just keep the revs above 2000. The engine is super happy anywhere between 2k and 6k rpm and happy all the way to redline.

As my (very likely) last manual car, it is a keeper.

The only things I don’t like are the electrochroamatic rearview mirror without a manual mode and the “modern” PCM with a pretty, but much-less functional HMI.

Let me say if you intend to rack up the miles quickly… (drive a lot), get the PDK.

More of a weekend car……manual.

My manual is more special (also better interior and better headlights), while the PDK is more relaxing and gobbles up the miles better.

Personally I think the T is great. Good looking, fun to drive, thrilling and relaxing at the same time.

I love the T but every time I spec one out I start looking at the GTS as the price creeps up. I’ve never driven a GTS but I have driven the base Cayman which I love. I don’t know what else I get with a GTS. The extra speed isn’t necessary on the street. I guess it’s a bit better sound. Not sure that’s worth it. I certainly don’t want it louder than the base for a daily driver.

How does the T hold up to tracking?

As far as I can tell, besides the 4 litre NA motor you get:
  • the GTS SportDesign package
  • tinted lights
  • furry headliner
  • real door handles
  • additional interior options
If you are happy with the 2.0T, it's a no-brainer.

BTW the GTS 4.0 is certainly not louder, just different.

Personally owned a 981 CGTS and moved to a 981 GT4. My girlfriend bought a 2017 base Cayman that was totalled in January. She ordered a new Cayman T in January and took delivery June 1. She absolutely loves it. It's a great package if you are chasing handling and momentum. Not to say it's not powerful, but obviously more powerful options available.

I find the T to be a unique option package and is more than the sum of its parts.

Funny, I was just looking at the numbers this morning. The 2.0L matches 0-60 km/h of the GTS 4.0 and is faster than the 2.5L 0-60 km/h. The T version of the car is faster on the figure eight (motortrend track) than the GTS 4.0L. Where the engine loses pace is 0-80, 0-100km/ h against the 2.5/4.0 litre.

It was a bit of a rushed decision but recently my sales contact at our local dealership told me that he had a guy cancel a 718 T order. I'm an enthusiast, collector and track day guy so I thought, well this seems like a good opportunity to design a neat T spec before they stop making them. I always loved Cassis Red in the 1980's, so I went with Frozen Berry. I spec'd it with a nice leather interior, full buckets, and as light as I could make it. Should be a fun autocrossing/track day car when I'm feeling more relaxed than the GT3.

It gets locked in a few weeks: PNQY3YZ4

@getto822000 , fine looking spec. Love that you added the painted bits on the exterior.

Nice to see some 'good news' on the car ordering front, too!

Allow me to be a slight voice of dissent. While the T is a great package, if I were buying new I'd start with a Base and option it up from there. I'm not a fan of the pull-strap door opener, prefer 19" wheels for normal uses, PASM -20 is too low for my region's roads, and I don't need PTV or SC. So don't overlook the Base if there's something about the T you don't like.
