I have been using Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 for many years in all my gasoline cars on the advice of a driver I know. I drive dynamically. I change the oil every 10 thousand run. The mechanics in the service say that the engine in the car is in good condition and works like a watch. I also think that it's the Best Motor Oil for Hot Weather https://davesoilchange.com/motor-oil-for-hot-weather/. When the valve cover is opened, the engine is in a perfectly clean condition, there are no traces of deposits.

I need to add 2 quarts of oil to my C GTS but cannot source Mobil 1 EPS 0W-40 X3. Has anyone tried Motul 8100 X-Clean Gen2 5W40? It is a C40 oil that costs $50 for 5 liters and is available on Amazon

The Motul 8100 X-Clean Gens 5W-40 is included on the list that Antipodean provided. But it is 5W-40.
Twelve posts prior to yours, worf928 provided a source (Porsche dealer) for the Mobil 1 EPS 0W-40 X3.
Also, Pelican Parts (I do not represent them) sells two brands of C40 oil, each in two different container sizes--but they are both 5W-40.
But, hands down, the best deal for the Mobil 1 0W-40 is from a Porsche dealer in Silver Spring, MD, at this website: https://www.getporscheparts.com/p-mo...-oil-1-l-o0117 .

I am currently using Liqui Moly 5w40 C40 in my Spyder as there is no local source for Mobil 1 at this time. Got it from FCP Euro for $35 for a 5l jug...

Ditto, just installed LM 5W-40 in my GTS 4.0 last Saturday, sourced from FCP Euro too. I'm getting ready to send the old oil back for a refund under their crazy policy, anyone do this yet? Problem is I bought two jugs but only have 8 quarts to return.

Picking up my second order today as Mobil 1 is still not available locally...

Regarding the FCP return policy, so you confirmed it includes oil, did you ask???

I just bought the Motul 8100 C40 oil from my dealer for $13 CAD/L. They told me that's what they use to service the cars there. Not planning to drive a 718 Spyder in sub- -16 C conditions, so I think I'll be fine.

Notably, my local Audi dealer says that their branded 0W40 oil is being required for the new RS6 and SQ8 and complies with VW 511 00. They couldn't tell me if it was Porsche C40 also, but the manual seems to say the VW spec is okay. The only problems are a) They don't have any in stock, and b) it costs 2x the Motul price at the dealer. However, if you search online for the Audi P/N GE550401QDSP you will find some euro auto parts sellers in the US that seem to offer the oil for a more reasonable price. Good luck!

When requesting C40 5W-40 for my 2021 GTS 4.0, I was told by the parts manager at my local Porsche dealer that he cannot find approval anywhere in his sources for 5W-40 and he suggested that the owner’s manual is wrong. I find this ridiculous- the owner’s manual specifies both and it says to use 0w-40 for temperatures under -13 Fahrenheit (-25 Celsius). Anyway, he said he would order what I wanted but it would be shaky ground if any engine-related warranty claim were to arise. I also think that’s ridiculous. I don’t think a courtroom judge would be sympathetic to
Porsche’s claim that a printed owner’s manual which came with my $100k car is wrong and I should have known that without written notice from Porsche; and that I should have trusted a verbal assurance from a dealer staffer who didn’t have any written directive to support his suggestion.

By the way- the dealer does have the C40-approved X3 Mobil1 0W-40 in stock. Location: South Florida.

I prefer 5W-40 in a hot climate.

Porsche needs to get its act together with this C40 thing.
1) Is C40 required in the US or not dammit?
2) Porsche: isn’t it time you provided US dealers with all the correct associated information?

Well at least you can get the Mobil 1 from your dealer! As for what the manual says, IMHO it is gospel unless I get an addendum from the manufacturer themselves... right now I run the Liqui Moly 5W-40 which is warranty approved by Porsche Germany.

They have a YouTube video showing how to return oil, so yes, they do.

That one doesn't say X3 on it. Are you sure it's the right one and C40 approved?

Interesting, I watched a few of those video's and it looked like they do not pay for return shipping correct?

For me being in Canada is would be cost prohibitive is return shipping is not included but for you guys in the US, it looks like a way to save even more money!

Correct, you pay the shipping, still not a bad deal.

For the love of god...you guys can afford a Porsche, but you are going to SHIP BACK YOUR OLD USED OIL to FCPEuro because they don't specifically prohibit that kind of return??
Come on guys, that's just wrong on so many levels.

I'd be ashamed to admit I was even considering such an act. But you guys do you!

I was wondering if anybody was going to say this... heck I thought getting warranty approved German oil at 1/2 price with free shipping was a deal enough!
