One thought: this new oil has been required in flat 6 and flat 4 engines since May, 2018 I think(correct me if I'm wrong, I don't remember the changeover date) but did any of those early cars have the GPF? I don't think so, nor did they have the "improved" emissions specs either, I'm guessing, but maybe they did. I've not read anything to support this.
c40 also mitigates predetonation , an issue known with direct injection engines.

Yes, but most pre-ignition is in turbo engines, which admittedly includes the 3.0 911 engine, but of course not the GTS and GT4 4.0 engines.

What C40 states is that it combats LSPI. A phenomenon associated with small displacement turbo charged engines…kinda like the entire Porsche line.

It also cuts down on particulate ash, which lengthens the life of the GPFs. Even NA cars have the full filter so this is beneficial to maintain best flow.

I expect the OPC to put C40 in my car, but didn’t raise a concern when I had to top off with A40 spec while at Parade in Indiana.

That is not C40 spec. It needs to be ESP X3.

It says X3 right under the ESP on the green band.

Suncoast needs to update their website. If you search for oil for a new 911, nothing shows up....

Here you go.

It is indeed ESP X3.

I plan to swap over to 5/50 (A40) when my Spyder is due for its first oil change. I do not have GPFs anymore and my car resides in FL all year so I think it will be fine.

I'm glad to see Suncoast is finally shipping the "correct" oil. My February order of 12 quarts was not X3.

This was the response I received from Suncoast when I questioned the order.

"Thank you for contacting us, the oil you received, part number 0W40M1ESP is the correct oil with the C40 requirements. We have been told by Porsche North America that the US oil bottles will not displayed the "C40" on the bottle itself only oil in Europe will have the note on the bottles.

US bottles do not have "C40" displayed, but this is the correct version for cars with the C40 requirements. This is the official oil used by Porsche USA.

Thank you and please let me know if you've any other questions or concerns.

So did you send the oil back and get them to supply the correct stuff? No C40 on the label for North America... sheesh!
