718 GT4

That is a huge mark up from the last GT4 which wasn't too much more expensive than a GTS. What is the 718 GTS cost in your country?
Good to hear the PDK will be an option.
Did they provide any insight on when it might be revealed?

If it has the 4 liter motor, it will have at least as much horsepower as the 991 GTS and, therefore, will cost at least as much as the 991 GTS. That’s the way it works with Porsche’s sports cars.

On the other hand, wouldn’t a GT4 ‘Cup’ car be considered a commercial vehicle?

So, historically, if it has ~420 bhp it will be priced like a C2S. OTOH, rumor has it that PAG is tired of ADMs & flippers.
They might bust the chart.

It also depends how it gets that power too this time around especially. If it's a 3 cylinder huff and puff that sounds like a coffee grinder then the HP:$ ratio may just hold up. But if it's really the 4.0 GT3 engine nerfed 80hp but still with a 9000rpm redline then you might be right and maybe PAG will pre flip the flippers.
Even so, I bet they'll still go MSRP plus ADM.

If we take your numbers - 420 bhp - then it comes in just short of a 430 bhp C2S at $105k base mrsp. In that case I’d “spreadsheet bet” on a ~$97k MSRP which would be ~$16k over the 718 GTS.
We shall see.

More likely to have a 8k redline

I love my Cayman even more than I love my 911 and would really like to see the platform reach its full potential. However, I am not naive to the 911 effect.
See the following and chime in if you like: https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1076...r-porsche.html
I offer the following two as 718 GT4 proposals:
1. 4 cylinder version of the GT3 motor, roughly 2.7 liters
2. smaller displacement version of GT3 motor with 9k max RPM
Neither would bring parity for the Cayman platform, but would still make for a hell of a car.
CJ, it would be good to get your perspective.

If a 718 GT4 is in the cards and if its going to get a GT3-based engine, I would think a big decrease in bore and a small decrease in stroke (3.8 maybe) would be the way to go. This would ‘enable’ the decrease in hp dictated by Marketing and also significantly reduce the build cost (reduced piston rod forces enabling cheaper internals.) This would be ‘engineering-justified’ by making up some $h1+ about bad resonant vibrations in a mid-engine configuration with the required exhaust changes to make the 4.0 fit....
But, the easiest, cheapest thing to do is to use a 9A1 X51 motor if NA is dictated.
OTOH, if this rumored GT4 is to be a harbinger for the 992 GT3, then stroking the flat-four turbo out, a bit, is also easy.
