Dyno results for Georges car-529WHP @ 23.4 psi
We finished dynoing Georges car on the dyno today.We ran into a few issues that we had to work through and the final results were 529WHP and 495 ft/lbs at 23.4 psi of boost on 110 octane,The engine,turbo,etc... could easily make more power then this but we basically ran out of fuel at 467WHP.The 83lb/hr injectors were maxed out.So I kept turning up the fuel pressure(upto 65psi static) as a band-aid fix but it was maxed out at 517WHP.We got one last run in at 529 but it started to get quite a bit leaner then we wanted so I called it quits.You can see fromthe higher horsepower charts things were getting lean as the chart appears choppy.
Anyways,thats the deal. Here are the charts and a little video.The good news is there is no drips, leaks or smoke and the car took it pretty well even though we were running at almost 120F ambient inside the Dyno shops metal building.There was one run with a boost spike to 28 psi that we had to get off on but it looked like it would have easily exceeded 600WHP. So now it is time for the 1000cc injectors and probably twin fuel pumps if George wants more power

I edited the video a couple of times and this current version is a hi-res version so check it out.
Dont mind the loping idle on the high boost run since I had to jack up the fuel pressure and I didnt re-tune the TEC down low to compensate.It actually idles real smooth with the fuel pressure at normal levels and with the big 83lb/hr injectors.

Awesome results Tim. Do you have the charts in SAE corrections? It looks like it was saying it was a correction factor of up to 1.20 and it was 116 degrees?

It was over 120F in the shop when we were running towards the end.I thought I was going to just go up in a ball of flames.I dont see how their guys can work their.It was fricken crazy hot.I will get them SAE corrected and post them a little later.

That's the perfect dyno tuning environment for George's car.......We don't get much of that sissy 80 degree stuff here in the summer, spring, or fall and 50 degree dyno days never happen here.

I'm pretty happy having close to 450whp and tq at one bar of boost. This motor will last and the associated parts on the car will not take such a beating if I keep the boost around one bar.
If I get bored, I can always change things. I just want the car back in it's current state and enjoy it for a while.

Very nice. I remember seeing pictures posted of this beauty and it is amazing. I have some rookie comments/questions. Keep in mind that the only 951 I have driven is my 2.5l and it's only about 270/290 WHP/TQ, and I know relatively nothing about engine building/tuning.
It seems to me that this would be an awesome race car motor because of the huge HP at higher RPM's, but maybe not as practical for a street car? To me part of the allure of a 3.0l would be the lower-end torque and HP. I assume that the motor was designed for the high HP and TQ at higher RPM, but if you are planning on running only around 1 bar anyway, could it be tuned for more power at lower RPM's and if so, what would be changed? Is it because the turbo is so big that it needs higher RPM to get into it's efficiency range?
Again absolutely no offense or discrediting intended, I'm just trying to learn.
