Tesla Isn’t All that Bad, at Least According to One Porsche Theft Victim
If you ever worry about having your Porsche stolen, the security system on a Tesla has your back.
If theres one thing you’ll have as a takeaway from this story, it will be a new appreciation for Tesla automobiles. Because one of them just assisted in helping the recovery of a stolen Porsche 911. According to this report from Jalopnik, thats when a Tesla donned a cape, and proceeded to save the day.
Tesla’s built-in sentry system activated and records activity from the car’s cameras when it thinks something suspicious is going on. While normally this is for the Tesla to save its own tail, in this instance, it captured the masked car capers in the act. Jalopnik’s headline makes it seem as though the Tesla actually intervened in the theft, but all it did was capture the act on video. The thieves did successfully steal the car. However…

The Tesla owner, knowing what had just been captured on camera went to twitter to post about it. And in no time flat, a resident of a nearby town, L’Eliana, recognized the car and alerted authorities. Obviously a car like a 964 Porsche would naturally gather some attention, so its not like the thieves were trying to steal a car to blend in.
From the looks of it, the car sustained no visible damage, which in the world of vehicle theft is amazing. We bet the owner is thrilled to see their Porsche whole, instead of a stripped out shell. But sadly, the two thieves are still on the loose. Tesla’s high quality video might help identify the Porsche snatchers though, face coverings and all.
So while we might not think of Tesla as the ultimate expression in our automotive tastes, we can appreciate the capabilities of Tesla and what it can do to help the community as a whole. Maybe that can tempt us to park next to one. You know, just in case.
