Porsche Stolen 27 Years Ago Found in Oregon Woods

Stolen 1979 Porsche 924 Found

This had to be an awkward phone call for law enforcement: ‘What do you want first, the good news about the stolen Porsche, or the bad news?’

Police have located a 1979 Porsche 924 coupe that went missing 27 years ago. Unfortunately, getting the stolen vehicle back to the owner might be a problem as it is located at the bottom of a cliff in the remote Oregon wilderness.

A man walking in dog in the area noticed the Porsche overturned at the bottom of a steep embankment and contacted local police. “The position of the vehicle at the base of a cliff made it nearly impossible to see from the road above,” said the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

‘The vehicle’s location on steep, rugged terrain presents logistical and environmental concerns for removal.’

What we really want to know is: How did the car even end up there?

“Heavy forest debris indicated the vehicle had been there for a significant period of time. The registration tags expired in 1991,” the sheriff’s office reported.

The Porsche is in pretty rough shape, as you can imagine. Unfortunately, it looks like they might have to officially call it on the car; extensive damage, years of outdoor exposure, the elements, and the coupe’s perilous location might make it a permanent fixture at the cliff. The sheriff explained: “The vehicle’s location on steep, rugged terrain presents logistical and environmental concerns for removal.” Local law enforcement officials are working to determine the best course of action.

A moment of silence for our fallen comrade, please.
